Everyone works at their own pace and has their own inspration, twinborn. There's no such thing as too slow or too weird. Weird ideas generally make up the bulk of the more interesting stories, in my opinion.

Thirded. My stories would never get published if they had to be "normal".

You guys made me excited to start writing! And it won't be because I was pressured or anything so don't worry. I think you just gave me the confidence I needed to think of anything and just Write. Maybe that will be a goal?? Start my "first" piece of writing. That's pretty basic for a goal :'D But you know what I mean yeah.
I'll have to get through this weekend first before I could commit to anything though since I have midterms next week. And I'll use the time to truly think of how I should start this.
Again guys you rock! You convinced me to do it!

Week 3 Status: 8.4k/25k words
Got a bit more done; I am rather pleased with my progress working through a rather difficult section of the fic, though I had hoped to hit 10k this week. Ah well...

Goal: Write at least 100 words everyday. I know it's an embarrassingly small goal compared to everyone else, but I'm not exactly the most prolific of writers, and I want to get into the habit of writing more often.
Title: Kilometer Zero Synopsis: Rei's early days in Japan, essentially. Rating: K/G, not sure. Might go up, but will not go beyond T/PG-13. Main Characters: Furuya Rei and Miyano Elena (Still deciding whether Rei meets Scotch in this.) Notes: Depending on how canon pans out, some parts or the entirety of this fic may either be canon compliant or a canon-divergence AU. Here, Rei's MI6 parents are mysteriously killed, he ends up in Elena's care, and they end up moving to Japan from the UK. Elena and Mrs. Furuya are sisters because I'm honestly still hoping the hint toward Mary and Elena being sisters is one giant red herring. The basic idea behind this fic has been festering in my mind since last year, but I only started writing this last month--just a few scenes here and there. I'm still working out on a lot of the details, so I'm not sure whether this'll be a oneshot or something longer. To be honest, I'm actually scared it may become a multichapter because, in all likelihood, I may never finish it.
I won't be writing this fic linearly (because some parts are easier to write and need less research than others), so I'm not going to set a certain number of chapters--if this ever becomes a multichapter--to be finished by the end of this event. Considering how I not normally don't write on a regular basis (and I've been struggling with my writing for the past several years), I'll be happy just to be able to write a little bit everyday. . . . It seems I may have achieved my goal already (or maybe it's just too low)? I was hoping to write at least 3,000 words by the end of the month, maybe 4,000 to 5,000 if I'm inspired, but I've shockingly already exceeded my upper limit. (Almost 6 k as of tonight!) It didn't even take me a week to reach my minimum target (took me until Day Six), what is this madness? I've written more words alone for Week One than I have in years! Granted, a lot of it is scatterbrained, unorganized, and utter crap (at best, I'd consider it decent or mediocre), but that's why revision exists, I guess. That said, as my goal is more process-driven than outcome-oriented, I shall continue to chug along with my minimum of a hundred words a day, and see how long it would take before I crash and burn where this takes me. (Plus, Kilometer Zero has already metastasized into a multichapter. What have I gotten myself into?) I'm actually thinking of this as way to develop writing discipline in the long term, since as I've discovered during this event, it seems I need some pressure to be productive, or else I'd procrastinate forever! Word Count Stats:
Week One: November 1st to 7th
November 1st (Tuesday): 242 words November 2nd (Wednesday): 284 words November 3rd (Thursday): 296 words November 4th (Friday): 1,031 words November 5th (Saturday): 868 words November 6th (Sunday): 900 words November 7th (Monday): 228 words Week One Total: 3,849 words Week One Daily Average: 549.86 words Week Two: November 8th to 14th
November 8th (Tuesday): 454 words November 9th (Wednesday): 807 words November 10th (Thursday): 292 words November 11th (Friday): 523 words November 12th (Saturday): 703 words November 13th (Sunday): 468 words November 14th (Monday): 179 words Week Two Overall Total: 3,426 words Week Two Daily Average: 489.43 words Overall Total: 7,275 words* Overall Daily Average: 519.64 words *Not entirely accurate since I've deleted some passages and words during editing and revision. I tend to edit and revise a lot whenever I'm uninspired; it seems to help with my writer's block a bit. Additional Comments:1. As I'm prone to going back and changing things (not to mention I'm absolutely incapable of writing longer fic in order), I won't be posting anything until I finish it (if ever that happens). 2. The fic's turning out to be a bit more plottier than I originally intended, because chibi Rei, much like his adult self, insists on being the proactive character that he is. And to think I just wanted a oneshot of Rei and Elena's adventures (because I'm dying to see the promised flashback between the two, but it seems Aoyama- sensei's prioritizing other subplots), plus an attempt to explore the "zero" motif Rei has going on. Oh, boy. 3. Scotch is in this fic! And he and Rei are going to be childhood friends, because I honestly can't see it any other way (outside of the "Rei grew up in the BO" scenario, which isn't the case in this fic), sorry. 4. Portions of the fic read like an essay sometimes, especially whenever I write about the differences between the UK and Japan. Ugh. 5. Fleshing out Elena and the Furuya parents is hard. 6. Forgot to mention this in my initial goal post, but this fic is also an attempt at exploring the hafu (half-Japanese) experience. I don't know if this is something that should constitute a trigger warning, but I'll mention it just in case. 7. Earlier tonight, I've somehow managed bring up issues of race and Japan's relations with its neighbors, China and Korea. >__< Might chuck it altogether if it turns out to be too controversial. Why, brain, why? 8. Although I've already written a rough draft, set-up stage is absolutely killing me.

Week 1 report: for me at least. Chapter 5 posted, currently ca. 44K words are posted. Added a 2.3K scene to chapter 6, decided to cut chapter 7 in two. Added 3K or so to chapter 7. = added about 5.5K overall to the entire story or so, so far. Unrelated note: I spent good part of my weekend researching cybersecurity engineering for a idea I have for another fanficton. I just wanted a basic understanding of what it is and how it works in order to be authentic/believable. What started as an innocent search, led me right down the aforementioned rabbithole after realizing I don't actually know that much about the workings of computers and programming. I contacted a language and network engineer I met online through playing MMOG's with, and got a brief basics of how programming works, and how connecting computers to a wireless network actually works. Which then moved to a basic understanding of how to hack a computer from a physical link (all which is taught through studying computer engineering) and he was reluctant to approach the subject about wireless hacking <- understandable so we stayed clear of any detailed discussion just in case, and got to throw off ideas of him of what is actually physically possible in order to have a understanding of the limits of this field. All of this was of course, highly theoretical, I haven't looked at any of the programs for hijacking anything (although, I know some by name). And I never ever will, as cybersecurity engineering is illegal <--- at most I only have a basic understanding of how to prevent it from happening to me(if that, I don't intent to spend half a decade getting a degree in computer engineering!). It's slightly disconcerting and disappointing when I came to the conclusion that I should terminate my story-idea before it came off the blackboard, as I don't want to encourage anyone to be interested in this field :// It's a rather terrifying subject in a world that is so obsessed with electronics and the internet. (Although, I'm not really that afraid of anyone recovering my internet search, as the search includes the phrase: "computer engineering for dummies"! )

Week 3 update
It's been a nice week this week, I made good progress in my story, though still no where near the half-way mark. Added about 1000 words, still a bit less than what I wanted, but I've been working on finishing my supposed Halloween fic (which started from the Haunted prompt last month in the forum, seems like ages ago) but the plot is progressing. It's now sitting at 11k words, I'm quite happy but now thinking whether I should split it into chapters for easy reading. With the way things are going, it'll probably end up more than 20k words and I feel it'll be a very long document.

Updated my last post: November 12th (Saturday): 703 words November 13th (Sunday): 468 words November 14th (Monday): 179 words Week Two Overall Total: 3,426 words Week Two Daily Average: 489.43 words Overall Total: 7,275 words* Overall Daily Average: 519.64 words *Not entirely accurate since I've deleted some passages and words during editing and revision. I tend to edit and revise a lot whenever I'm uninspired; it seems to help with my writer's block a bit. That said, the first hundred words have been more and more of an uphill battle these days. Goal Three: I want to write some RanKai. Just something. I don't care if it's only a thousand words or just a one-shot or something.Notes: I started a RanKai piece for Dance, and I have another kind of similar to it that I was going to have be twenty-six short chapters, one for each letter of the alphabet. Maybe if I could get the first three chapters of the one I started for dance or if I could do A, B, and C of the other one, that would be good. I only have about five hundred words of each, and I left off in a place that's kind of hard to pick up from in each, and the plots were kind of similar, so I guess it doesn't matter where I go with it so long as I go. I'm sure something interesting is bound to happen. Mikauzoran, I don't know if you'd find this helpful, inspirational, and/or motivational, but it might interest you to know that it's Kaito/Ran Week next week (November 21st to 27th) on Tumblr.

My update: I have a portion of the next chapter of Switched written on my phone. Life has been too busy to actually sit down and write at home. Am unsure if I will get a chapter updated.
