Love your take on Akako! Duskull's shading is really cool, and I think her family history is really interesting. It's also interesting that you're having her be more of a loner than a group traveller. It definitely fits her canon character more, and again, adds variety to the cast. As usual, your choice of pokemon is fitting. I really love what you've done with her character, and I can't wait to see who's next! ^_^

Thank you! I'm rather happy with how Akako turned out too. As for her back story, she was willing to be social this time around, but not a full-time team member. She's more part time, but I know she'll want some limelight, so she'll probably pop up often enough in my story. I've got two more in the works left before I take another break from this project and start my Doctor Who cosplay project. I know Mikau and a few others were really looking forward to seeing that finally start and I know I'm excited to begin it as well. We'll see how that goes. It'll be very different working with references of real life characters and having to anime-ify them, so they probably won't come out as fast as I've been able to do with my Digimon and Pokemon projects. Like I said, we'll see. I have finals next week and will be graduating that Saturday, though, so I know I'll have the free time to work on them worry free after all that has blown over.

And here we have a preview look at our lady Sonoko! I'm not sure how I feel about this one... Her hair took FOREVER (I feel like I've said that about all of the girls thus far but I really mean it with her)!!! You'd think a girl with short hair would be easy to draw, especially because it's such a simple cut. Unfortunately the trainer in the picture I was using for a reference had a massive amount of this hair that covered her shoulders, ears and everything, so I had to improvise that whole shoulders and head area. And as for the actual hair on this character I must have reshaped and relined the top of the head at least five times before settling for this. Sonoko has continued to prove how high maintenance she is. She's also wearing the cutesiest outfit out of all of the girls. I think this turned out all right. I'm satisfied with it, but please let me know what you think.

I really like Sonoko! She looks uber cute. I think the outfit is really perfect for her. You did such a good job. I think the hair turned out well as well. Sorry to hear it gave you such trouble.
The only thing is, and I know I've said this before, but I feel like Sonoko's hips and butt, along with those of all the girls except Ran and Kazuha, are huge. Like, disproportionately to the rest of their bodies. It just feels like the lower halves of their bodies have all the curvy-ness of a teen's, but the tops are still small like a kid's, so it looks too small. I don't know if it's just that the Pokemon style that your copying from's jacked up like that, but...the boys all had balanced bodies with their hips being more or less proportional to their shoulders, so...
I don't know. I look at it and think, "It's awesome good. Like, the actual anime good, but why the heck are their hips so enormous?!" If it's not you and is just the models you're using, let me know so that I can write a letter to Pokemon animators, but...I don't know. Is there any way you could fix it if you do any more Pokemon AU females in the future? It's just this one little thing that ruins the rest of the picture for me, and that makes me sad. :/
But other than that one little thing, Sonoko looks freaking awesome. I think she's my favorite girl so far. Good job!
P.S: Suuuuuuuper excited for the DW cosplay, by the way!

Thank you. I'm glad to hear that Sonoko turned out so well. I thought that the outfit was cute too. Now that I look at the hips, they all do seem a bit big. I really don't know. I think it's just the Pokemon Style because I copy/trace the body types in all of the pictures... maybe the pokemon animators have trouble drawing female characters as well. Maybe it's just the pictures that I'm using but... I really don't know. Here are the girls lined up with their original reference characters: I'll be sure to look out for the hips problem with my future female characters, but we'll see how that goes. Some of those kinds of things are very hard to fix if you're a copy-tracer like I am. I have to do my fair share of improve when it comes to some of these pictures (Sonoko's HAIR!) but for the most part I keep to the basic outline because my own free hand/style is crap. I have no sense of proportion when it comes to drawing full bodies sometimes and I can get very frustrated trying to draw certain poses. Females especially. I don't know why.

Sonoko looks really cute.. <33 I think she might even be my fave out of the girls, just from the design. Now I'm kinda curious which refs you used for the guys.. xD I think Hakuba is based on the XY-Protagonist, isn't he? The others I can't really place.. *too long ago since I played the games* And I only played 1., 2. and 4. gen, and the remake of the 2. .. sadly I missed the Hoenn one so I don't think I'll be able to read your fanfic without being uber confused. not to mention that I played them in German, so everything is named differently here too.

Sonoko had to be my fav girl from this cosplay, because I understand how hard it was to work wih previous long hair and stylizing it for her. Not only that..the outfit stands out all the girl's 'cause it's waaaaaaaay cuuuuuute, seriously I got cheesy when seeing your art!! I hope later you fix the problem as Mikau told you. If that solved, the arts gonna be so awesome that you'll end up having a fanclub of yours, I seriously bet you!

Yay! Sonoko's done! And her Pokemon are so cute! I would have had her up sooner, but I had to finish thinking up her background info for my "A Journey in Hoenn" fan fic. So here's that: Like Kaito and Shinichi, Sonoko is from Rustboro City. Her father, Shiro Suzuki, is head of the Suzuki Corporation, which I’ve decided I’m going to have in place of the Devon Corporation. Unlike the role that Steven Devon plays in the games as the Pokémon Champion, Sonoko is instead an avid Pokémon Coordinator and is a big fan of Toichi Kuroba and Yukiko Kudo with aspirations of becoming just as good as they are one day. Her older sister, Ayako, is starting her career as a Pokémon Watcher and is traveling Hoenn with her boyfriend, Yuzo Tomizawa, studying Pokémon and observing them in their natural habitats. Sonoko enjoys visits from her sister and learning more about the kinds of Pokémon she might encounter on her own travels. Sonoko’s starter Pokémon is a Mudkip. She’d always thought that it was the cutest of the three starter Pokémon and was eager to get her own. Her Mudkip is very playful and driven, often getting caught up in Sonoko’s different temperaments when it comes to friendly battles and competitions. It listens to Sonoko well enough, but can often get confused if Sonoko doesn’t make her orders clear, as the case can be sometimes amid the excitement of competition. Mudkip also tends to mimic Sonoko’s behavior and follows her lead. If she’s snooty towards a Trainer, Mudkip with be snooty to that Trainer’s Pokémon. Sonoko met her Skitty on the road just north of Rustboro. Skitty had smelled the food that Sonoko and her Pokémon had been eating and stole some. It battled with Mudkip and Sonoko saw that not only was the feline cute, it was smart and graceful too. Inspired and driven, she and Mudkip didn’t give up pursuit of the Skitty until they caught it. Skitty is a sassy little thing and does whatever it wants typically. It’s also very vain and self-centered so it loves the spotlight and all of the attention it gets whenever Sonoko uses it in competition. If it ever listens to Sonoko it’s during competition, because it doesn’t like hearing anything negative being said about it. After receiving her Trainer’s license and starting her journey, Sonoko accompanied Ayako and Yuzo for a while. During their brief time traveling together, they came across a bunch of flower Pokémon like Bellossom and Roselia. Naturally, the wild Pokémon fled from the humans when they were discovered, but a Roselia fell behind and got stuck in a bramble, hurting itself in the process. It wouldn’t let any of the humans and their Pokémon get near it, though, so they had no choice but to capture it if they were ever going to help it. Even though it was stuck, it proved difficult to capture. Ayako was the one to capture it in the end and they took it to the nearest Pokémon Center. During the rest of the time Sonoko was traveling with Ayako and Yuzo, she bonded with the Roselia and it became friends with her Pokémon. When the time Sonoko decided to go her own way came, Ayako gave her Roselia’s pokéball, saying that it would be happier with her. Sonoko uses both Roselia and Skitty as her two main Pokémon in competitions. How she met the guys and girls: Sonoko has always been a good friend of Ran’s ever since they were little. Their mothers had been best friends and traveling companions when they’d been young Trainers themselves and Sonoko often took trips to Petalburg to visit Ran while they were growing up. Sonoko has an April birthday, so she starts her journeys before the boys do. She knows Kaito and Shinichi though because they grew up in the same city and went to school together. The two boys didn’t really like hanging out with her that much when they were little, however, because she was such a huge fan of Toichi and Yukiko’s. Naturally, because Sonoko is also an aspiring Coordinator, she and Kaito became instant rivals when they began their own journeys, both too proud to ask each other for advice and training tips. Shinichi tends to slink away into the background when they get into heated Coordinator conversations. She gets along with them well enough though, but it’s clear that she’s not their favorite person. After starting her own journey, Sonoko did travel with Ran for a while, until she entered her first competition in Slateport and lost horribly, her inexperience really showing. That is why she started traveling with her sister for a time, because she felt that she couldn’t face an awesome natural pro like Ran. After regaining her confidence and wining her first ribbon, she meets back up with Ran again in Lavaridge in time to meet everyone else. She likes Kazuha and Aoko, and thinks Akako’s ok and doesn't mind being round her, but she definitely prefers it when Akako’s not traveling with them because of the girl’s ghost and dark type Pokémon. She tends to get into a lot of arguments with Heiji, especially if he’s said something to upset Kazuha, so he’s not her favorite person either. She thinks Saguru, on the other hand, is cute and tends to stick to him like glue if he’s ever around. This is always a source of amusement for the other boys’ because Saguru is socially awkward and too polite to turn her away. Of course this only endears him to the other girls because they believe that he’s so nice and sensitive (much to Kaito, Heiji, and Shinichi’s chagrin). Sonoko enjoys traveling with Ran, and the other girls and stays with them until they travel to Mossdeep City where she meets Makoto (there’ll be more on that to come in Mokoto’s Trainer info).
Just for fun and because Makoto Kyougoku is the last Trainer I'm going to be doing for this collection (though I more than likely will add some others later), here's a sneak peek for what's to come:

And here we have the last of the Trainers: Makoto Kyougoku. When I did him for the Digimon Project, someone had commented that I'd forgotten his glasses. I hadn't really. I'm just not really good at drawing them. (That's why I haven't drawn Conan yet. ) So I hope his turned out fine. I think they look okay. And here's the boys and their references for fory. You don't need to worry about knowing the games or the anime seasons, Fory to read my Journey in Hoenn fan fic. That's what the background info is for. So long as you know the basics about Pokemon and the world of Pokemon, there shouldn't be a problem.

Yay! Makoto's officially done! And here are his Pokemon! I didn't really have a lot of plans for him in my fic, A Journey in Hoenn, so his background isn't as detailed as everyone else's, but I do intend for him to have a minor reoccurring sort of role like he does in the actual show. Here's what I've come up with so far: Makoto is originally from Rustboro City. His father is an employee at the Suzuki Corporation, and was promoted to head of the Slateport offices. His mother does business for Saguru’s mother in the market. After becoming a Pokémon Trainer, Makoto set out traveling the Hoenn region, occasionally performing the odd currier job on behalf of his father for the Suzuki Corp. He comes to love transversing the region’s smaller islands and eventually sets up residence in Mossdeep, fascinated with studying the various ruins and water Pokémon that migrate past the islands like the pods of Wailmer. Makoto picked Treecko for his starter Pokémon because, like Heiji, he knew about their reputation for being the best fighters out of the three basics. His Treecko keeps a cool head in battles and has a bond with its Trainer that is on par with the one Ran shares with her Torchic’s. Makoto caught his Machop on Route 112 while traveling to explore Mt. Chimney. Machop is a hard fighter and works devastatingly well in combination with Treecko in double team battles. It’s well trained and disciplined. It too shares a close bond with its Trainer and will do whatever it’s commanded to do. Makoto found and caught his Baltoy in the Desert Ruins along Route 111. Baltoy is a curious little Pokémon and was originally very shy until it got to know Makoto and his other Pokémon better. It didn’t start out particularly well in battle, but after traveling and training with its new Trainer Baltoy became a fierce fighter. Its strengths lie in its powerful psychic attacks rather than its physical blows. How he met the boys and girls: Even though Makoto is originally from Rustboro City, his father was promoted to his position in Slateport when he was really little, so he didn’t meet Sonoko, Shinichi or Kaito until they started their own journeys. Makoto is the oldest of this lot, his birthday being January 28th. The first time he crosses paths with anyone is when Heiji returnes to Dewford Island with Kaito and Shinichi. Makoto takes some of Steven Devon’s role in the games in this story, but he’s not the Pokémon Champion. He is the one they need to deliver the letter to in the Devon/Suzuki good arc. They meet him in the ruins inside Dewford Cave before Heiji faces his father, whom Makoto has recently won a Knuckle badge from. He and Heiji have a battle and Heiji finds himself horribly outmatched. Makoto gives Heiji some friendly advice on how to prepare battling with Heizo for his own Knuckle Badge before moving on. He is another Trainer that Heiji views as a strong rival he wishes to beat when they enter the League Championships. Kaito and Shinichi admire the way Makoto handles his Pokémon in battle. Makoto doesn’t meet any of the girls until the whole gang ends up on Mossdeep for a Pokémon Completion and he offers them a place to stay while they’re visiting Mossdeep. As he watched the Coordinators compete, he admires Sonoko’s passion and thinks that she’s cute. He likes her even more when he sees her cheer her friends on even though they are competing against each other. Sonoko is equally impressed with him when she sees him participate in friendly scrimmage battles with Heiji and Ran. When the two groups prepare to move on, Sonoko asks Makoto if she could stay with him for a while in Mossdeep. He agrees and allows her to accompany him on his travels and exploration of the islands.
So this marks the end of my DCMK Pokemon Trainers collection! Yay! I may come back and revisit this collection at a later date and draw the Gym Leaders and some of the Black Org. Members as members of Team Aqua and Team Magma if I feel like it. We'll see. I'm all Pokemon-ed out at the moment. I hope you guys liked seeing these versions of the DC/MK characters. Let me know if there's interest in seeing more characters from this AU.

*cue enthusiastic applause* congrats on finishing the entire series! Every single trainer/coordinator has sounded really well thought out and looked really well drawn. I honestly can't believe you did all of this within the span of a few months! Also, you've managed to prove me wrong in my belief that GIMP couldn't be used as an effective coloring tool... Again, great job and thanks a ton for all the time you've put into this ^_^

*CLAPS CLAPS CLAPS!* Good job, Shara! Every single one of them is spot-on! I loooove it! Sonoko's femininity and sassy-ness and her rich kid attitude are still there... and Makoto's just... *claps again for lack of appropriate adjective*! Congrats, Shara! I should wonder, though, will the other adults appear? Like those in the police or the org? Just curious...

Thank you fory and quincy! I'm rather happy with them too. fory GIMP is the only coloring/drawing software that I know how to use so... XD It's effective enough for me. neonquincy1217 Yes, the adults appear. I've already listed a few of them as being Gym Leaders (Eri, Kogoro, Ginzo & Heizo) and a few others fill out the other 4 Gym Leader positions, and I haven't even touched on who I cast as the Elite 4 or the Pokemon Champion, so yes, I'll come back eventually and draw the Gym Leaders, Elite 4, the Pokemon Champion, and those I've cast in Teams Magma and Aqua. But not for a while yet I think. I'm a little Pokemon-ed out right now (especially since I just finished drawing the last 6 within a month's time) and promised to do the Doctor Who Cosplay next. I've picked out all my reference pictures for that Doctor Who-wise, but since I've got college finals and graduation this coming week I won't actually start anything until next week, so it might be a little while before you see anything. Especially since some of my fanfics need to be updated. I've been neglecting them as of late.
