And we have Aoko! It took me a while to finish her up. Her hair and eyes wouldn't cooperate with me and then I messed up coloring her shoes - making them blue like the picture I'd used for a model, instead of the purple to tie back up to her shirt. I'm happy with it now though. I'll be back soon with her Pokemon and character bio either later tonight, or sometime tomorrow afternoon.

And here's the completed picture of Aoko and 3 of her Pokemon! Yay! Here's her character information for my "A Journey in Hoenn" fan fic: Aoko is the only daughter and child of Ginzo Nakamori and his wife Kirin. Ginzo is the Gym Leader in Mauville City and Kirin is a Pokémon Breeder that owns and runs the local Pokémon Day Care. Because running a gym in a major city keeps her father very busy, Aoko grew up disliking Pokémon Trainers. Because of this, when she turned 10 (her birthday is March 1st) she didn’t set out on a journey even though she applied for a Trainer’s license and got her starter Pokémon. She immediately returned home instead and split her time equally between helping her mother out at the Day Care and acting as an assistant at her father’s gym. It wasn’t until she met Ran that she decided it was time to set out and see the world, but not as a Trainer. She instead gives competing in Pokémon Contests a try and keeps at it even though she isn’t particularly good. Aoko’s first Pokémon was her Pikachu. Growing up, her family always had a bunch of the electric mouse-type Pokémon around the house. Her mother has a Plusle and Minun, and her father has a Raichu he sometimes lends to his wife for breeding. Aoko’s Pikachu is a result of one of those breeding. At age 7, little Aoko was allowed to help her mother hatch and raise baby Pokémon at the Day Care. The Pichu that would eventually become her Pikachu had been born small and the lady who’d commissioned Kirin to breed her Raichu with Ginzo’s didn’t want it because she didn’t think it’d live long. Aoko was determined to prove the lady wrong and save the little guy, so she raised it herself (with her mother’s help and guidance of course). When Pichu became strong enough, it followed Aoko around everywhere and eventually evolved into Pikachu around the time she turned 9. Pikachu is Aoko’s best friend and was initially jealous when Aoko got her Mudkip as a starter Pokémon. Aoko’s Mudkip is a very docile and gentle Pokémon with an easygoing nature. It liked Aoko from the moment it met her and they got along well together. But it was because they got along so well so fast that Mudkip and Pikachu didn’t get along so well at first. Mudkip just couldn’t understand why Pikachu was so cold towards him. Aoko worried about how poorly her Pokémon got on, but after they had to fight together in a battle with wild Pokémon, they realized that Aoko was happier when they got along. Mudkip forgave Pikachu of its jealousy and the two became friends. Aoko’s Wingull is the first Pokémon she catches on her journey. It was harassing a bunch of Merrill and Azurill and Aoko battled it with Pikachu. In spite of being both a flying and water type Pokémon, Wingull proved to be a tough opponent even though the advantage should have been with Pikachu, an electric type. Wingull has a very mischievous nature and is a bit of a show off, excelling in quick darting movements, and executing speedy dives and tricky aerial maneuvers. He’s a bit of a peacock. How she meets the G4 and Ran: Aoko met Ran when the slightly older girl came to battle her father for a Dynamo Badge. Aoko was impressed with not only Ran’s skill as a Trainer, but the way she interacts with her Pokémon. Growing up a Gym Leader’s and a Pokémon Breeder’s Daughter, Aoko had seen all sorts of Pokémon Trainers and how they interacted with their Pokémon, but had never seen a Trainer so connected and in tune with their Pokémon. After talking to Ran and showing her around the Mauville City, Aoko asked if she could accompany Ran on her journey. Ran welcomed having a traveling companion like Aoko along and the two of them set off together after saying goodbye to Aoko’s parents. Like Kaito and Shinichi, Aoko and Ran are often mistaken for being sisters. Aoko had been traveling with Ran for a while and was with her when Ran visited her mother in Rustboro and was there for the Devon goods arc. She thinks that Shinichi’s a nice guy and their Mudkips get along great. Even after she finds out he’s actually a Trainer, she doesn’t hold it against him. She adores his Ralts. As for Kaito, she’d not sure what to make of him at first. After a little friendly competition, Kaito sort of absently makes fun of her technique when he sees her in action for the first time (though he is very impressed with her Wingull). Because of this initial misunderstanding, they don’t get along too well at first and a childish part of her is really happy to see Kaito lose to Saguru in competition later when they meet up again. As for Heiji, Aoko thought that he was a bit loud and obnoxious, but after seeing him care for his Pokémon and giving them a pep talk after losing his first battle with Ran’s mom, she thinks he’s alright for a Trainer. As for Saguru, she really likes him and develops a little crush because he’s cute, different, obviously cares for all Pokémon, and is nice to her and gives her tips for how to train and handle her Pokémon in a Contest. Later, when she and Kaito become better acquainted, she finds herself torn between deciding which of the two boys she likes and crushes on the most.

You really spared no expense with Aoko here, I love her! She really does look younger than Ran... I like how she's a contest major rather than a trainer, it adds a little more variety to the table! Her relationships with everyone really remind the readers that this is still technically DC/MK, and that's not something a lot of AUs do. As always, great job, I really admire how much thought you put into this! Keep it up!

Thank you! I try really hard to meld AU with canon and I didn't want everyone to be a Trainer and constantly competing against each other, so we have a variety of occupations: Heiji, Ran, and Shinichi are Trainers, while Kaito and Aoko and Saguru (for the most part) compete in contest competitions, though some like Shinichi and Saguru are still trying to decide what they want to do. Saguru in particular since he both battles and competes. I'm working on Kazuha right now. Her hair is giving me more trouble than Aoko's. Girl characters are hard! Ack!

Ta dah! Kazuha's done! Granted, her design is rather simple clothes wise, but I figure she's a simple girl and wouldn't wear anything too flashy anyway at age 10. She's not into boys that way yet or out to impress anyone with her apparel. I also decided that simple was best because her hair was killing me! Her bangs kept looking funky and didn't want to cooperate with my paint tools. Anywho, she's done and hopefully I'll finish the picture up with her 3 Pokemon and post her back story for my "A Journey in Hoenn" Fan Fic sometime tomorrow.

Wow, they look totally, totally, totally adorable. ^.~ Pokémon was my first anime and probably one of the first anime series in Czech. That pictures make me to remember that weekends mornings and my early wakes just because Pokemon, Ducktales and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers were playing at TV. Pokémon was really popular by that time... Shinichi, Ran and everyone else look really great. I was saying that they look somehow younger than they are before I've read characterizations. I'm glad that everyone of them are not trainers 'cause imagination of Kaito or Aoko as trainers is little... strange. Aoko as (probably) a Pokémon Breeder is a very good idea, it's fit for her and her character. I'm curious about the whole story. I'm going to read fanfic tonight.

Yay! Kazuha is done! For some reason I had a lot of trouble thinking up her background and how she got her Pokemon, but after watching some of the original pokemon season episodes and some from the Hoenn arc, some inspiration finally stuck. Here's how I see Kazuha fitting into my "A Journey in Hoenn" fan fic: Like Heiji, Kazuha was born and raised on Dewford Island. Her father, Ginshiro Toyama, helps Heizo Hattori run the Dewford Gym, often stepping in as substitute Gym Leader if Heizo is ill or needs to be away on business. Kazuha’s mother, Mariko, runs the Trainer Center part of the Pokémon Center where visiting Pokémon Trainers can lodge and eat during their stay on Dewford. Before going on her journey, Kazuha could usually be found there helping. Kazuha picked a Treecko for her starter Pokémon at the start of her journey. She picked Treecko half because she knew that it was a good fighting Pokémon, and half because Heiji picked a Treecko as well. However, because she’s not a gym leader’s kid and didn't grow up raising and training Pokémon like Heiji did, she starts out as a very incompetent Trainer, and her Treecko sees this. In the beginning it isn’t the most obedient of partners, preferring to do it’s own thing if it doesn’t agree with an attack command. It isn’t until Kazuha gets a better handle on battling and what it means to be a Pokémon Trainer that it starts to listen to her and respect her more – though it will still ignore a command from time to time. It doesn’t like anyone picking on her, though, so Treecko proves to be very loyal. Because of this, Kazuha’s Treecko gets into it with Heiji’s more often than not. Kazuha’s Meditite had come into Kazuha’s possession via a trade from a Trainer passing through Dewford Town when she was 7. It had only been an egg then, but the Trainer had claimed that he couldn’t afford to take care of a baby Pokémon once it hatched and had left it with the Toyamas. Before Kazuha’s parents could hand it off to somebody else, like Heizo, the egg hatched and the baby Meditite became very attached to Kazuha. Like Heiji’s Makuhita, Kazuha and Meditite grew up very close and learned each other’s ways. Meditite has huge reserves of patience for its inexperienced Trainer, and – unlike her Treecko – battles well with her from the start. It gets along fine with Treecko, but they don’t become friends until Treecko starts respecting Kazuha more. Kazuha’s Cacnea isn’t a Pokémon that Kazuha actually battled and caught. Cacnea came along willingly. When Kazuha was traveling on Route 111, she found Cacnea tangled in some shrubbery. After managing to free the Pokémon – and hurting herself in the process – Cacnea bolted, quickly fleeing from the human. It was curious, however, because Kazuha didn’t even try to catch it. When Kazuha found herself in trouble later with a Baltoy, Cacnea returned the favor and came to Kazuha’s rescue. The two became friends and Cacnea joined Kazuha’s Pokémon lineup. It doesn’t care to be in its pokéball, however, so it’s usually seen outside, hovering around Kazuha. It tries to be nice and helpful, but it’s a little hard for Cacnea because of all its needles and it ends up hurting others accidentally more often than not. How she meets the boys and girls: Kazuha has known Heiji since childhood and played with him a lot as a little kid before Heiji started helping out around his father’s gym. Because of her late Birthday (November 7th) she is still in Dewford waiting to turn 10 when Heiji returns with Shinichi and Kaito in tow. She thinks Kaito’s weird, but likes Shinichi because he seems nice and doesn’t laugh at her as much as Heiji and Kaito do. She tags along with them during their adventures on Dewford Island, and when they leave she promises to try to meet up with them at some point when she becomes a Trainer and begins her own adventure. When she does become a Trainer, she heads for Slateport and travels north from there, hoping to run into the boys somewhere along the way to Mauville, but finds out she’s missed them by a few days. She finally tracks them down and comes across their path while traveling Route 111 after Cacnea joins her. She thinks Saguru is a little cold when she first meets him, but then realizes that he’s just shy and doesn’t talk as much in comparison to Heiji and Kaito. She meets Ran and Aoko when they reach Lavaridge Town and go to the hot springs. She bonds with the two girls and decides to travel with them rather than the boys. She really admires Ran, and enthusiastically tries out her training regimen. She and Aoko get along great because they’re both new and still learning the ins and outs of their chosen careers as Trainer and Coordinator, encouraging each other not to give up.

Yay! Akako's done. For a while her eyes were giving me a lot of trouble. At first they were wide and she looked really psycho so I brought the eyelids together a bit more. Then she didn't want to look cocky or anything other than nice. So apparently kid Akako is nicer than her older DCMK counterpart in this AU. Complete picture of Akako with her Pokemon to come.

I love Kazuha's story! The girls are building a team, which is awesome! It's interesting that she's the first one to not start out excelling in what she's trying to do, and hopefully that means she'll show the most growth ^_^ It's heartwarming, the way she meets her pokemon. as always, fantastic job, and I can't wait to see Akako finished!

okay, where to start, where to start...
KYAAAAAAAAAAAA! AOKOOOOOO!!! OMG YOU DID HER VERY WELL ILOVEYOUILOVEYOUILOVEYOU!!!~ *glomps* Oh, and Pikachu and Mudkip and Wingull! Wonderful choice! I don't see her as a trainer, too... she'd be more of a breeder or a regular in competitions or a fruits person, LOLWAT? Well, basically maybe even something concerning Pokemon food and health care like what Saguru does. xD And I see potential with her ending up with Hakuba here (not if Kaito can help it, LOL)... if you intend it cos really I dunno if this fic is gonna contain all that romance stuff cos... they're ten! XD
Anyways on to the next one... KAZUHA! She's so preppy and sassy and her Pokemon fits her very well! When I was looking at her character design I thought she's gonna end up with fighting types or rock types but nooo!~ You made her even more awesome! Who cares if she's a newbie in being a trainer? She's got friends who support her and will make her better along the way. Also, I'm so glad you kept them as childhood friends. As cliche as it is it just doesn't feel right if they're not... :3
Next, AKAKO!~ I'm really excited about this one, seeing as you did a great job with her with your DigiDestined project. It's a new take on her personality, after all, and frankly, I don't like the way she's being portrayed in the original series (the self-indulged temptress looking for a way to make the protagonist hers... wth?) I feel like there's something more to her than that.
WEEEE!~ I'm soooo excited!~ ^w^

I really like the dynamic you have between Aoko, Kaito, and Hakuba. I kind of hope Haku-chan wins out. The poor guy needs some love. And I think it's cool how the girls are forming their own team. I like Ran's backstory. It's really cool.
Question: They're ten, right? Why is Ran so busty? I've never scene a skinny/healthy-sized ten year old with breasts that big. I do suppose that little Miss Haibara has a figure at age seven/eight, but...it just seems off when the rest of the girls are so pear shaped. I don't know. Ran looks normal, but Aoko, Kazuha (to a lesser extent), and Akako all look like their hips are disproportionately big.
I love Akako's outfit, and I'm super excited to see her backstory and pokemon. That should be interesting.

Yay! Akako is officially done! I think Duskull was the hardest Pokemon for my to draw. I experimented with the shading on it's body because it's a ghost and thought that it should look a bit different from the normal solid Pokemon. I think it turned out good, but what do you guys think? Anyway, here's Akako's background information for my "A Journey in Hoenn" fan fic: Akako is from Lavaridge Town. Her father runs the famous Hot Springs resort there and her mother is a very well known herbologist and healer, providing natural remedies for whatever ails humans and Pokémon alike. Akako’s mother’s family is from Verdanturf Town and does business with Hakuba’s mother’s family in Slateport City. Because of this, Akako is well traveled in the areas between Lavaridge and Slateport. Her family is an old one with roots that trace several generations back to the first settlers in Hoenn and have chosen to keep their family name over the years, so any men marrying into the family take the Koizumi name. They have a rather dark history however, so some of the more superstitious peoples living in these areas consider what the Koizumis do to be witchcraft. It doesn’t help that all Koizumis appear to have an affinity for Ghost, Poison, and Dark type Pokémon. Akako’s Torchic is the starter Pokémon that she chooses after she turns 10. Akako was originally going to pick a Treecko for her starter Pokémon, but something about one of the Torchic pokéballs made her choose a Torchic instead. Akako’s Torchic is a very sassy Pokémon. It listens to Akako well enough while in a battle or competition, but loves to go about doing it’s own things otherwise. It’s a fearless little bird that won’t back down from a challenge and doesn’t mind being around a lot of the Ghost and Dark type Pokémon that Akako is inclined to capture. Akako’s Poochyena is the first Pokémon Akako catches on her journey. Poochyena is an energetic little thing and loves a good fight, and quickly becomes Akako’s first choice if she’s ever engaged in a battle. In the beginning Poochyena is really young and has the unfortunate habit of chasing Torchic around. Because of this neither of the Pokémon get along and Akako is less inclined to have them out at the same time. Poochyena thankfully grows out of this childish state over time, but Torchic still doesn’t like to be around the canine. Poochyena adores Akako, however, and is a loyal companion over the course of her travels. Akako came across her Duskull while traveling back home to Lavaridge at the base of Mt. Pyre. She’d been singing an old song her mother had taught her growing up and it had attracted the Duskull. It kept following her as she traveled through the woods at the base of Mt. Pyre until she got irritated enough that she threw a pokéball at it. She was surprised that it allowed itself to get captured. It’s a funny little ghost Pokémon that is actually quite shy. It likes it when Akako sings and does whatever she asks of it; even battle. It gets along just fine with Torchic and Poochyena. It actually enjoys flying away from Poochyena when the dog Pokémon chases it, taking it for the game that it is. It especially loves phasing through trees and brush to evade Poochyena and laughing when it gets stuck. Torchic likes Duskull because of this. If Poochyena is chasing Duskull, than it’s not chasing Torchic. Akako likes watching these antics and wishes that she could use Duskull in competition, but the poor ghost Pokémon is too shy and doesn’t like being around large groups. Because of this, it would more than likely come down with a terrible case of stage fright if judges and a large crowd of spectators were watching it. How she meets the boys and girls: Akako’s birthday is on October 13th, but because of the way the days fell on the calendar that year it happened to fall on a day after the second Saturday in October. This meant that she had to wait until November to start her journey and therefore attended the Trainer induction meeting with Agasa the same day as Kazuha. The two girls met and traveled for a little while together before they split up. Akako headed for Rustboro while Kazuha went to Mauville to find the boys. After a while Akako headed home for Lavaridge and arrives there in time to run into the whole gang at the hot springs. She knew Saguru from meetings their mothers had in Slateport, but they had never talked until meeting in Lavaridge. She likes Kaito’s mischievous nature and thinks that everyone else is just okay. Aoko does manage to befriend her though, and tries to convince her to travel with the other girls, but Akako turns down the invitation. She’s a loner and doesn’t wish to get tied down to any group. She runs into the two groups from time to time in other towns and cities, and will travel with them for a short period of time, but never for long. Like Hakuba, she’s not really sure what she wants to be yet, so she dabbles in being both a Trainer and Coordinator in competing battles and contests. She’s more interested in travel and discovering new Pokémon, so she’s more inclined to believe that she’ll become either a Pokémon Researcher or a Breeder when she gets older. For now she’s just enjoying her travels and learning more about the world around her.

assasin8 thank you! I'm glad you like Kazuha. I can't have everyone start out really good/decently good, and I figured that Kazuha should be the one trainer that struggles a bit in the beginning, but she will show the most growth when league competition time comes around. neonquincy1217 HAHA! Thanks. I'm glad you like them. I'm rather happy with the choices I made for her Pokemon. They just seemed to fit her. I imagine her continuing down her mother's path and becoming a Pokemon Breeder. As for pairings, I'm not really planing any BECAUSE they are 10 years oldish in this fic. As for Kazuha, I wanted to keep some of the canon stuff in this fic. It may be an AU, but I wanted to add in some nods to the original. And yay! New perspective on Akako! She's definitely a little OC in this AU in regards to her original character in Magic Kaitou. I hope you like my choices for her Pokemon and her role in the story. Mikauzoran Thank you! I'm rather happy with how the group dynamics have worked out in this too, especially since I hadn't originally considered give the girls any sort of big role in my fan fic. Now I'm kinda excited to write them all in! XD Yeah, they start out ten in this, but I figure they're just a teensy bit older in these pictures because they have all these Pokemon with them. As for Ran... yeah, I didn't realize how developed her chest area was until after I drew the picture. It made me look back at all the pictures I'd picked for references for the Pokemon Trainers, and a lot of them, like Ran's, were straight from the games! The girls in the TV show aren't better either! May and Misty definitely have figures. It made me more conscious when drawing Kazuha and Aoko, so they're less developed in the chest than Ran. In my head I'm just pretending that she was an early bloomer. Lame excuse, I know, but apparently 10 year old girls in the Pokemon series are already going through puberty.
