So Natsumi asked me to translate the new MK1412 themes. First up is Ai no Shinario (Love Scenario). Even though it's sung by a woman, it's sung from the point of view of a guy...or a tomboy like Sera that uses masculine pronouns, but typically in songs like this where the "protagonist" is trying to get the recipient to open up and reassure them that they're there for them and everything will be okay, the "protagonist" is male. It's really kind of cool that they can write songs like that in Japanese. I don't know that we have girls singing songs from the guy's point of view in English. I almost said, "Well, there is Just Be Friends by..." but then I realized that that's in Japanese too. Hm. :/ Great song, though; I really do like Vocaliod. Moving on!
世界欺く揺るぎない正義
A solid/firm justice that will deceive the world
ほどいて真実この手の中
Unwrap the truth in my hand
(Okay, we're missing particles and punctuation here that would tell me if truth were the object of the verb unwrap/untie/unfasten, so I'm not quite sure how the individual parts of the sentence are supposed to relate to each other, but from the way she says it, it sounds like she's commanding someone to "unwrap the truth". But it's sung, so there's no telling. Maybe it just sounded better sung that way. *Shrugs*)
大胆不敵な影が華麗に踊る
The daredevil shadow dances magnificently
君が隠している秘密いつか聞かせてよ
That secret that you're hiding...someday, please tell it to me!
伸ばした手で触れる事は誰もできない
No one can experience/touch the things that you do with your outstretched hands
(What? Okay. This...is weird. It depends upon what they meant by the particle で. It can either signal that this is the location where the action is taking place, like "Let's study at the library.", or it can mean "by means of" or "with a tool", like "Try eating with chopsticks." So either the person...let's just say Kaito because it's obvious that this song is being sung to Kaito. So either Kaito has something in his hand that other people can't feel/understand/experience, or he's using his hand to touch/experience something that other people aren't able to. I settled on the latter because it just made more sense to me based on how the different parts of the sentence work together. にis much more common for expressing things actually in hands, so I'm leaning towards the "by means of/with a tool" usage of で.)
君が隠している世界僕に見させてよ
Show me the world that you're keeping hidden!
揺れる難解な心解き明かして奪うその瞳
That trembling, difficult to understand heart of yours and those sad eyes, I'll unravel their mysteries and steal them away
(Gosh this line is so beautiful in Japanese! It just doesn't retain it's radiance in English. I feel like it loses some of it's heartfelt, touching meaning, so...I kind of took some poetic license with the translation of this one. ^.^; The feeling it's trying to convey is...utterly ruined when translated literally because literally it's I'll crack open your heart and steal it along with your eyes. Yeah. No. 解き明かす is the verb used for solving cases, bringing the truth to light, so that's where my translation came from. That's the kind of feeling that it wants to convey. As for the eyes part, the Japanese here isn't literally the actual eyes but more the look or expression in the eyes, so I threw "sad eyes" in there to kind of get the feeling across. What this line really means is "I want to understand you--like, really understand you--and take away all of your sadness. I want to make you happy. I want to see you smile." THAT'S what this line means. Ahem. Sorry. It's really gorgeous and heartfelt, and so I wanted you to understand it and be able to appreciate the layers of meaning behind it. Moving on.)
不安がって泣いてたって見つけらんないよ
Those things called anxiety and tears...I can't find them
(Again with the missing particles and punctuation. Hmm. Here, it should me more like "that thing called anxiety" and "that thing called crying" because of the って after them. Okay, maybe I'll change the first part, but I don't know what to do with "crying". It's kind of...weird. I don't know what she's trying to express here.)
狙う真実はどこへ消えた?
Where did the truth that I was/you were aiming for disappear to?
(There's no explicit subject, so it's either the singer or the recipient. I'm kind of leaning towards the singer in this case because of the way she says it.)
たとえ世界欺く答えだとしても
For example, even if it's an answer that will deceive the world,
”信じて”差し出す掌
A palm offering, "Believe (me)."
(There's no explicitly stated "me" in there, but it could be implied. So it's either just "Believe" or "Believe me".)
決して逃げない怖くはないから
Never run away, because there's nothing to be afraid of!
目を開け弱さをかき消すんだ
Open your eyes and drown out your weakness.
Yay! Beautiful song! I love it. It's perfect for Kaito, methinks. Well. I hope you liked the translation. I hope I did an okay job. ^.^; I hope my translation notes are at least kind of interesting/sort of helpful for understanding where I'm getting things. I thought it might make more sense that way and kind of help out those studying Japanese. Anyway. There you go!
