Congratulations Ichthyophobia! The feeling you caught with the fireworks really is beautiful. You're also really good taking notice of the lights and shadows Azrayah The colored version looks wondeful! I can imagine the work behind it. And you can see the watermelon much better: nice! Feel proud of this drawing, it's great!

Oh, Kaggami, about the badge. Since I do the badges for all the other contests, I kind of automatically figured I'd be doing it for this one. So I've kind of actually already designed one. It's waiting on approval/changes from Crimson before it's final, but this is what I put together: If you want to do one yourself, that's totally fine, but just so you know, if you don't feel like doing it, you don't have to.

All of those were awesome, including the badge. Congratulations Ichthy! And if I had kept track of the contest I would've voted for you, too.

Thanks everyone for participating, hope everyone had fun.
I apologize for the problems, this was the first and obviously there were some problems... that won´t exist next time. If someone has complains and/or suggestions, PM me, okay?
The next competition will start after the writing part ends, and this time it starts with the writing part. the winner of the writing part will chose a theme, and a story about it will be written. Then, the artists will have to make a drawing about the story or parts of the story. So in about... two months? We´ll see
Thanks once again.

Wait. I was under the impression that the winner of the writing portion would pick the theme of Drawing Competition 2. Is that not so? I think this is going to turn into something like a game of telephone, drawing a scene from a story based on a picture of a scene from a story based on a picture. :/ The stories and pics will undoubtedly start to all look pretty similar after a while.
While I do think it would be cool to see scenes from the stories drawn, I suggest that Drawing Competition 2 start over with a fresh theme chosen by the winner of the writing portion.
And the next drawing portion will be starting up at the beginning of next month after the writing part ends.

Hm, I understood Kaggami's post so that the next drawing competition will have a fresh theme, it will just start with the writing portion. And from your post, Mikau, I get that you think that the next competition will be based on the stories written for the first one. So, rather different things. Or maybe I'm the one getting it all wrong Anyway, maybe you should sort out what exactly Kaggami meant ^-^

rainbow is right. The theme is fresh, chosen by the winner of the writing part, and it will start with the writing part. I´ll edit my post to explain it.

Thank you, rainbow. I am trying to sort things out with Kaggami. That's why I posted here to ask her. -.-; Okay, NOW it sounds like you're saying that the winner of the writing part will pick a new theme, more stories will be written based on that theme, and then the artists have to draw scenes from the stories. :/ Yes? Or am I totally getting it wrong again? I was under the impression that these contests would alternate between a drawing portion one month and a writing portion the next with the winner of the writing portion picking the new theme for people to draw. If that's not so and it really does go drawing, writing, writing, drawing, then the artists don't really get to participate that often, and didn't you originally want to start these drawing contests so that the artists could have more to do? It seems a little counterintuitive to me to make artists create fanart for stories instead of giving them an abstract theme and letting them have free range with their creativity. If I were an artist, I would rather create something on my own than have to recreate someone else's work. How do actual artists feel about this? Would you rather recreate scenes from a story or come up with your own art from an abstract theme? Sorry if I'm completely misunderstanding you, Kaggami. I just want to make sure that we're all on the same page so that I know what's going on in the event that I have to take over in your absence again. Thanks!

Frankly I'd prefer to work from a theme rather than from a story. It's much more difficult to work from someone else's vision, and people (like me, on frequent occasions) parse down a lot of description for the sake of space or pacing. Or don't include it in the first place. Which makes it hard to draw things other than the characters themselves. (I mean, some of these it's hard enough to get a badge worth of imagery out, much less an entire illustration.)
Fanart directly from stories can be a lot of fun, but it's fairly rare that there's a scene in a story that I can see clearly and strikingly enough to draw. Expecting there to be several scenes like that (enough that not everyone picks the same one to draw) within 10-15K words over several authors... Well hope springs eternal, I guess, but I wouldn't bet on it.
That's just my opinion, though.

When you look at cover art for a book it doesn't always match one to one with what happens, but it (hopefully) still fits.

So, um, I'm confused. Since I'm a writing volunteer, do I still get to write something based off of a picture or is it just Mikauzoran since she was chosen? I know it says that all the writing volunteers get to chose a picture and base a story off of it, but I want to be certain. If I am allowed to base a story off of a picture of my choosing, is there a deadline? Sorry for being confused >.<
One more question, sorry. Is the writing part just going to be about Ichytophobia's art or are we actually writing things about one of the other art pieces as well? I feel as if I am misinterpreting something...

I think whoever wants to write, writes. It's just that Mikau is the only one that has to. It doesn't necessarily have to be on my drawing, the writing-portion thread says it can be based on any of the entries. I think as far as the writing-portion questions go, more of the answers would be found over in the writing portion thread. Aka over here: Link.
