Okay, so apparently I'm not the only one doing this... (Also, advanced sorry to Nikudou Natsumi for not knowing you were also doing this... ugh, sometimes I curse timezone difference *sulks in one corner, paramode-ing* OH GEEZ NAT-CCHI! I HOPE YOU'RE NOT MAD AT ME FOR THIS! T^T) Right after I read Mikauzoran's The Mock Turtle and the Griffin chapter from Falling in Love Literally, my hands have been itching to draw Mad Hatter Kaito. And the fact that I just watched Disney's animated version of Alice in Wonderland last night didn't work either... Unfortunately, it's not halfway done yet... I need Mikau-chan's advice on thingies. Aaanyways, here's my rendition of Mad Hatter Kaito... *smiles and waves* Y-yeah, ignore my notes and the mess but I really need Mikau-chan's (and all the awesome forum people's) advice to make this work. (Now looking at it from the computer screen, and yeeees, I just now realize this is messier than I thought ) My concerns... -I feel like I need more space for the table -Is the table too crowded or should I add more teacups and cakes and pots? -I'm considering adding a dormouse peeping in one of the teapots -I'm considering changing the chair into something like this *does archway movement with arms* -Is Kaito's ribbon too big or...? -... I feel like something's missing but I can't put my finger on it... -colors, colors, colors... (for the background, though, I imagine a Kuroshitsuji-esque color, like a velvety blue, I guess) <--I dunno how to make that work... and now I feel like this project was too ambitious, lolwhat? I'm satisfied with the grin, though. I can recognize it a mile away (lol) *looks at it again* Y-yeah, I'm drawing on an A5 sized paper.... *sigh* it's small (-___-") EDIT, EDIT: Oh, those little black marks that look vaguely like eraser shavings are not my doing. Maybe it's in the scanner, hm...

Gasp. *Eyes widen and jaw drops* It's gorgeous! Oh my gosh, Quincy! You've done a great job!
Man, I'm so excited! And I still get to see Natsumi's version too! This is awesome! I'm so thrilled that you guys are doing a scene from my fic!
No, no. Touch nothing. Just like this. Well, maybe Doormie would be cute, but other than that, touch nothing. The table is great. The stuff on the table is great. The chair is great. The ribbon...well, I hadn't imagined a ribbon at first, but I like it here in this pic. It fits just fine, and it looks good! It kind of reminds me of Alice from Pandora Hearts. ^.^
I have no idea about the colors. I think darker colors would be good. I don't know. The image I had in mind was tea int he garden by full moon light. I don't know if that helps any.
But yeah. You're absolutely amazing, Quincy! Keep up the good work, and that's so much for doing this and sharing! ^o^

Whoa! This is really amazing! Everything looks really nice and clear for something hand drawn, but because it's not digital, it's got that sketchy charm that I love about your drawings! Kaito's grin is the most perfect thing ever! The table looks really cool, and I actually think the size works for it, since there's not much space, it looks like you've put a lot of things into a small area, which really does feel reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland! Seriously, I want to know HOW YOU DO THIS. Great job!

I'm not mad, but that is amazing! XD And that grin . . . Man, you got that PERFECT.
*glances around the drawing, trying to decide which thing to say next* Let's just say everything's amazing! XD

Yays!~ I'm glad you guys liked it! o^w^o And yays! Nat-cchi's not mad at me! If you need help with yours, this gal's ready to help!~ v^_^v I'm gonna need help with the colors once I'm finished inking this, though. Not the utensils or anything, but rather the background and the chair, and I'm not sure what mahogany should look like (I know it's a shade of brown but I'm not sure which shade)... And NOW I finally found what's missing right after googling the mad tea party scene... The text "In This Style"!!! Also, I shall make the bowtie polka-dotted, if that's okay with you, Mikau-chan...

Oh, also...
I'm flattered, assassin-chan. It's just... the truth is, like I've always pointed out time and again, I do not know what I'm doing half the time *sheepish giggle*
I just... let my hand do the work, half the time without thinking too much... I just let the pencil glide lightly (or as lightly as my hand can. I had to be careful not to grip the pencil too tight or make super hard strokes cos when I draw, my hand shakes *clenches teeth*)
Also, there's an unending hurricane inside my head(?) yeah, maybe that's it...

I'm so glad you noticed!!! I wasn't going to say anything for fear of being too nitpicky, but yeah. And technically the card goes on the opposite side, but SERIOUSLY don't touch it. I love the way it looks right there just as it is. As for polka dots...what color polka dots? (^_^ polka dots and I...I mean, they're my mom's thing, and--not that they're bad, but...we just don't always... Polka dots are very hit or miss with me. It's your art, though, so do your thing. Like I said, I had never imagined a ribbon in the first place, so I didn't have any preconceived notions about it, but when I looked at the picture this morning, I was thinking a very dark whine red to sort of go with the coat. Mahogany is a rich red brown, by the way. Kind of like how Akako's hair was supposed to be, A-1. As for background, I don't know if you want to do the foliage or the sky or the moon or anything, but in my head the picture was a pretty kind of not exactly gothic look to it, but sort of on the darker, not quite sinister side of things, but...I'm not describing this well at all. Just...dark, rich colors, I think.

Okay, no polka dots on the ribbon (to answer your question, though, I was thinking yellow bow with red polka dots). The thing about me putting a ribbon is ALL the influence of that Alice in Wonderland movie with Johnny Depp (YOU *points at Mr. Johnny Depp* THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! lol). I guess I just can't imagine The Mad Hatter without it, heheh. Yeah, now that you mentioned it, the card really is on the wrong side, ne? Maybe it's just my subconscious saying the right side feels clutter-y with Kaito's hand in the way. Also, I was thinking of the caption on the upper right side of the pic when I drew it. So... yeah... Just gonna put the "In This Style" thing over there. As for the other changes (including wittle Dormie), I shall reveal once I inked the thing up. Color-related concerns shall be addressed in a later date, but there's DEFINITELY going to be pastel-colors. Promise~ :3

Ugh. Johnny Depp's Hatter was so...wrong. *Squirms* I was SO disappointed. His acting was perfect, but the costume and makeup... They could have had a proper, sexy Hatter, but no. They turned him into a clown. No, Andrew Lee Potts from Syfy's Alice is definitely my favorite Hatter. Like I was telling Natsumi, his Hatter was the one I was thinking of when I was I envisioning how the poster would look. ^.^
...P-Pastel? That's going to be interesting. Maybe for the table settings and stuff. I suppose not everything can be dark colors like I was thinking, though. I remembered the word I was trying to use to describe the atmosphere of the picture, though! "Haunting". That's the way I was imagining it. With the dark, night time scene in the garden and Kaito's insane grin, I was kind of going for hauntingly pretty with a hint that there might be something slightly sinister behind this tea party. That was my mental image, anyway.
But you can do whatever you want. Far be it from me to impede creativity. Seriously. I was just sharing what my mental picture looked like. I think the color scheme how I envisioned it would be similar to the dark, rich colors used in Kuroshitsuji. It was also kind of like that one scene in Ai no Scenario, though when he's sitting in the tree outside her bedroom window at night with the moon and stars in the background.
I'm going to stop talking now for fear I'm making no sense. -.-

No, no, please do go on. I like where this is going... *cheshire cat grin*
*nods at Johnny Depp* so true, so true! ... Now, I don't know who you're talking about, but I did my research... and DEYUM, he's hot. I can see now why you made him your model for Mad Hatter Kaito.
Nyways, I'm keeping the ribbon, if that's okay with you. As for the thingies on the table, if not pastel, I'll make it as CRAZY as possible. I was thinking of a Kuroshitsuji-esque background too... I just dunno how I'd pull that off *awkward laughter*
It's just... I want this to be as consistent as possible to your FLL accounts (yeah,I was that ambitious...
*deep breath* I'm gonna make this work, I promise! *serious mode*

Oh. Okay. I just didn't want to step on your toes as an artist.
Well, I was kind of thinking of Mock Turtle as a kind of odd, gothic chic type boutique that was a little...off. They sell stuff straight out of LOTR. Stuff like Peter Pan, Alice, and The Wizard of Oz but for adults (but no, not THAT kind of adult store). Think fanciful but dark. Hauntingly beautiful. And that's kind of the image I had for the Mad Hatter Kaito poster too. You know thorns and roses, a pale moon...
Like I said before, I was thinking tea party in the garden by the light of the full moon. I was kind of thinking of Blood's nighttime tea parties in Heart no Kuni no Alice. That and Kuroshitsuji are good examples of the color scheme I was thinking of. Again, dark, rich colors:plum, black, rust, midnight blue, forest green. I'll have to send you some reference pics.
Would it be too weird to do the cups and plates and all that in pastel and then have the tablecloth, chair, Kaito, and the background be dark?
And by all means, keep the ribbon. I like it, and it fits with the way you've drawn the rest.

(Ooooh, a Kuroshitsuji style background would look awesome) This is amazing, not that it is much of a surprise I love the grin and the hat and cards and how he just fits the role so damn well. And it looks greet, I don't think you need to change anything. The mad hatter looks like Kid a bit, but that might just be because it is Kaito and his grin. (The Mock Turtle reminded me of Saguru dressing as Legolas in 'Challenge Accepted'. *sighs* Hakuba and Legolas. I think I would faint.)

'Kay, so I kinda started inking the thing and... *gulps* Added thingies like cute wittle dormouse, frilly cuffs (cos that's one of the few ways I thought I can make this 'fanciful but dark'?! hah i dunno anymore...) and other table things, and also erased some table things. I haven't added the candle's lights yet. I'll save that for later... This is me drawing with shaky hands which are shakier than ever *points at hat brim* This is me drawing with ink and messing it up *points at the grin* This is me panicking over the mess on Hatter Kaito's neck area *points at "shadowy place WTHISTHAT"* This is me debating whether or not to erase pencil marks *points at upper area and other cup designs I haven't inked yet* This is me erasing the pencil marks and messing up the ink *points at hat area and other parts of the table* This is me messing up the table (no thanks to my stubborn nephew), which resulted to it looking not like a flat surface at all
*CRIES* WAAAH NO! *stops crying and reviews work* HOOOH! I CAN STILL MAKE THIS WORK I PROMISE *serious mode* Not yet half done but... yeah... Need help with the colors nao? :3
