Well then, some of us have been thinking of adding more corners to the learning area. That said, it would be nice to know what languages you want to learn, and which you already know and are willing to help others with. Everyone is a curious being, and I believe writes can be even more interested in languages than other people, since it can improve your writing skills (not to mention impress others). That said, please state:
Which languages you would like to learn:
Which languages you know and can help others with:
No pressure, of course, XD. On my part, I believe it would be interesting to add more corners, aside from Japanese.

JAPANESE!!! Most definitely. Other than that . . . Well, I'm taking Spanish in school, and it's my third year so I know some of it. I might be able to help those who don't know as much. Don't know TOO much Japanese though . . . probably not enough to help people with it. But since we already have a Japanese thing, that probably doesn't matter.

In my case, I would like to learn German. To be honest, I kind of hate it, probably because my sister said it is horrible, but my friend had German at high school and I would like to know at least something... Hahaha...
I can help with: - Portuguese- Not hard to learn, but verbs are nothing like English. There are many forms and many tenses. Worth learning though, the poems are beautiful, though confusing... When I had my exam, I prayed there was no poem to clarify its meaning...
- Ukrainian - I can help with the spoken part, but when it comes to writing... I was born in Ukraine, but haven´t been there for a long time, and I didn´t learn the grammar. I can, however, post some places where you can learn it. ATTENTION: A REALLY BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE! WORTH LEARNING XD
- French - Only the basic. There is one thing everyone should know where going to France through: JE NE PARLE PAS FRANÇAIS (read like: je ne parle pa france) - I don´t speak french

I took Spanish for four years in high school but don't remember much. I pick up languages pretty quick I think, but I usually don't have too much time to practice. xD I'd like to learn:Besides Japanese I think my second choice would be German. I've met a few Germans through DC too. Third would be Korean. I had a few close Korean friends who were trying to get me to learn it awhile ago but I didn't get very far. Kaggami, do you think Portuguese is close to Spanish? I knew someone from Brazil in high school and he spoke Portuguese. I'm not sure if there is a dialect difference between Portugal and Brazil Portuguese.

Hmm... I can speak some basic German/Spanish/French, and a tiny bit of Welsh, so I'd like to develop one of those. Probably the Spanish. Kind of wish we didn't move away from Wales when I was 10, since I'd probably be semi-fluent in Welsh if I'd been taught it in high school as well as the tiny bit in primary.

Portuguese and Spanish are similar. Portuguese people easily understand Spanish, but usually people from Spain don´t understand portuguese completely. I still wonder if they just pretend or don´t understand... The difference between portuguese and spanish is mainly how to write and read some words. While in portuguese call is "chamar" in spanish you have "llamar". However, for root, pt is "raiz" and sp is "raiz", the only difference being the pronunciation.
I believe learning portuguese is always a plus. Brazilian is similar to portuguese too, more than spanish, but they have some specific words and their grammar is slightly different. It´s because they learned portuguse from common people whom spoke badly and didn´t know the rules. Also, you have people all across Africa talking portuguese. If you know portuguese argentinian is easier to understand, not to mention other latin languagues. This is because, strangely, portuguese is one of the languages that still have big latin roots.

P.S. Don´t trust google translators voice if you want to hear the difference, I believe that one comes from Brazilian Portuguese.

I'm taking French in school right now... I know enough to be able to read French literature (aka fanfiction) with relative ease, but I'm not perfectly fluent... Also my household speaks Vietnamese, but ironically that's the language I know the worst (probably not a good thing considering I assistant teach a Vietnamese class on Sundays though...) I think it would be really cool to learn Arabic or an African language! Obscure languages make really cool codes! As a Danny Phantom fan, I'd also love to learn Esperanto! I think people should try to learn as many languages as they can in a lifetime, because that just opens up a whole world of new people to talk to! (Also there's nothing cooler than hearing some foreign people talking and then realizing you can understand everything they're saying! Creepy but stil...)

Hi, I've had French for 4 years in school, but because I'm not using it, I forgot almost everything... Of course I could help with any questions about German since I am German. I'm trying to learn Japanese, but am progressing really slowly.

I added a poll to the OP so we can see some numbers. Please mention of I should add one that's not on there that you'd want to learn.

I've studied a lot of different languages before, but the only ones that I really use for anything are Spanish, English, and Japanese. I took a few years of French (enough to be able to be a tourist and not get too terribly lost), some Chinese while I was studying abroad in Beijing (again, enough to do touristy stuff and make simple conversation), and some Korean (from a fellow international student when we were both studying abroad at Kyoto Gakuen Daigaku, strangely enough. She taught me some basic stuff like self-introduction. The lessons were in our common language of Japanese, so it was really cool to learn another language in another language).
Anyway, I'd really like to round out those last three: French, Chinese, and Korean. With my Spanish background I can get the gist of things in romance languages like Italian, Portuguese, and French, but I'd like to be able to communicate in those languages too. Basically, I want to learn whatever language someone will teach me. ^.^; I'm a language person. What can I say?

Hummm... languages, huh? Well, I'm currently studying English and French - I'm one of those German-speaking people everybody appears to meet through DC & MK ^_^ - at university, so I'm pretty fluent in both... I'm also doing Japanese in my free time and can hold a fairly long conversation; I'm currently learning to read... I'm veeeeery interested in learning Korean! I've already done classes in that one before, but I can't seem to remember much except for the very basic vocabs and grammar points... Let's see: I'm okay with Italian and had Spanish at school for three years; I can read texts in both languages fairly well. That's off the top of my head right now. To quote Mikau - "I'm a language person", too! ^_^ Throw a language at me and you can be pretty sure that I'm gonna be interested in knowing at least some basics in it~ They're intriguing! And it's true that languages are like a key: they open up the world for you.

I'd actually be really interested to learn some Russian, or at least their alphabet (mostly dueto the third DC movie ;D). Also I would love to learn Japanese for the very reason that it would be a lot more practical reading manga and watching anime I know some german though, but looking at my school grades I'm not that good ^-^"
