I feel like since I suggested the theme I'm obligated to participate... My fic Without Fanfare would have been perfect for this prompt except for the fact that I wrote it almost a year ago. -.- Time to start cranking out new ideas...

Hey Mikau, how serious are you on the "all your writing has to be done within the month of the contest" rule? I ask because I have an old idea (actually my original idea for the "Alone" contest way back when) that I've written a bit over 500 words for that I think I could change around to work for this prompt. I would be editing what I have by a good bit, but I'd still be keeping chunks of it intact. Would that be a no-go according to the rules?

I'm curious about this answer too, Mikau, as I'm sort of in the same boat as ichthy. Though my fic was one of my own off-the-cuff ideas and not prompt-inspired.

Hmmmm... :/ I think it would be, for fairness' sake. I think it has to be an absolute. I'm not really at liberty to make exceptions here and there. You can use an old idea, but all of the writing has to be done within the writing period. Now, if you want to read what you already have, open up a blank document, and write something based on what you just read, that's fine, but I feel like I have to say editing, even heavily, an old, incomplete piece is against the rules. Otherwise I have to set parameters for how many words you can keep from the old work and other ridiculousness.
Sorry. I think it's best if you just start over so all of the writing is done within the writing period. Thank you for understanding.

All right! Voting go! I'm looking forward to these stories too as soon as I get a chance to proper read them and not just quick-check them for qualifications. ^.^;

By the way, Taliya, if you could get me the new theme and three optional prompts to me by tomorrow, that would be great. Thanks!

Aw, thanks Quincy! I really liked writing Heiji and Kaito, and hope to do so again--if I can find the right situation, and hopefully without someone dying too. ^.^;;;
