Oh. Whoa, really? It's a three-way tie ... So does that mean my crappy ending's not that crappy after all? *tilts head* *claps* Good job everyone!

Crimson Amarone, I don't think the fact that there are ties in and of itself is a problem. I mean, whenever we've had a tie, both/all of the winners have earned their votes and deserve to win, so I think it would be unfair to take that away from them. The real problem is that even when there is a tie, Ichthy designs a custom badge for each winner which takes a lot of time and effort, especially for a grad student/working professional volunteering to do so. Would you agree that that's the case? I propose that in the event of a tie, ichthyophobia only designs one badge based on the theme in general. I don't know if she wants to try to tie in elements from both of the winning pieces or if she just wants to come up with her own interpretation, but...that can be up to her. She's a fantastic artist and more than capable of making those decisions herself, so I think we should leave that up to her discretion. What do you think?

I don't mind at all doing individual badges. It was just a *lot* this time, especially since we had two contests ending at once. That said, two-way ties aren't a problem, but if three-ways like this (or four ways, or more ways) start becoming common, (especially with low vote numbers which seems to be where ties show up), I'd ask that before closing the poll you put out a last-minute call for votes? The rules say that the prize is a custom badge, which I've interpreted as custom to each winner, so unless that changes I'd be a bit uncomfortable doing general badges, just because I don't want to disappoint anyone or make anyone feel like they got a compromised or not as good prize thanks to a tie. I guess we'll just have to see how things work out though! And thanks! I liked how this batch came out.

I was thinking "custom" as in "specifically created for a particular contest" as opposed to "generic that we give out all the time". ^.^;
The last few times I've been on to close a contest, there hasn't really been anyone on, so I don't know what good a "last call for votes" would do. :/ Maybe I need to make more regular announcements about voting? Sometimes voting is really good, sometimes not, but I haven't been able to discern a pattern to explain it.
If you're sure you're okay with designing two badges in the event of a tie, that's fine, but maybe we'll revisit the idea of having a generic badge for a specific contest if we ever have a three-way tie again.
Thanks again for your creative genius, Ichthy.
