We needed an actual thread for all this GF discussion For all your Gravity Falls needs since it seems like Natsumi and I dragged half of you into being interested in it. All hail the unholy triangle overlord! Let's start it off: How far are you into the series, and who is your favorite character so far? I'm all caught up, and the stupid triangle is my favorite.

I'm only up to the DD&D episode (the one with Weird Al guest starring) but I'm trying to find a place online where I can stream the rest. As for my favorite character...it's really hard to choose. I'm probably stuck between Dipper and {How spoilery are we getting here?} Great-uncle Ford
because they're both giant dweebs.

I'm going to see the 3rd episode now. Have to say, so far I hate Stan's character design (not personality, just the looks) because, I don't know, it irritates me somehow... hope I'll get used to him. Love the twins thought, and the comedy's great!

Just finished that ep with the Lumberjack spirit in the Northwest Mansion...
Even so, I STILL CANNOT get over "The Blind Eye" episode. My most favorite episode so far. I swear to... GAAAH! It's just so... RAAAAWR! XP
I still like Waddles :"3 ... And I feel weird for saying this but I also like Old Man McGucket.
Geez, here I am again, like always, going gaga over supporting characters. xD
I agree with midnight. The comedy's great! I still can't get over the Singin' Salmon... oh, and that video game character XDD
So I guess... I'll just "unsee you guys later"? XDD

IT STARTS. IT STARTS AFTER THE NORTHWEST MANSION ONE. NEXT EPISODE IS "NOT WHAT HE SEEMS." Yeah, that's an important one, as well as the one right after it XD
XD Unsee you later, Quincy.

Christmas was mentioned during church today, and, well . . . So yeah, Stan unwisely got Mabel a bag full of smile dip, Dipper got a fourth journal from Ford (I really like how it turned out), Mabel got a postcard from Candy and Grenda, Dipper sent Ford a picture of him posing in front of a ghost (he looks horrible cuz I didn't have any reference pictures nor could I erase), and both Mabel and Dipper sent Stan a homemade mythological creature made from an old robot dinosaur of Dipper's and a stuffed chicken or some other bird that they found.

Okays, my thoughts on the series so far before I start on that episode after DD&D... {Just to be on the safe side, cos Im paranoid} First off, on the characters: I like how most, if not all, of them are unpredictable. Like, they're not flat. They're people who are not consistent. Most characters I started hating, I end up liking and vice versa (like Soos and Pacifica, and McGucket)... Some... well, I don't like the first time and I still don't like til now *ahem*Gruncle*ahem* (although to be fair I like how he really cares for the twins... tsundere much? xD). I dunno, he hides too much info for my tastes (but then again that's what makes this more exciting ne?) They're round (just, I dunno about the evil dorito; he's... triangle? XD), and the people behind this series put in so darn much effort to make hateable charas likeable, and likeable charas hateable. Series like these always deserve their honorary seat at the back of my mind.
On the series as a whole: Despite being a mystery series, it's also quirky and fun and family-and-friends-lessons-filled (Dipper and Mabel's relationship, in particular, is really nice to watch. Like, how they depend on each other and all that). And there's just something about it that make you not to want to look back on how your life was before you met these nonexistent entities IFYWIM. It's got supernatural stuff and they try to put logical explanations to them, like Supernatural, except animated and there's less salt involved, LOL... or Martin Mystery minus the always-present gooey stuff and gadgets. Oh, also, I like how the series makes fun of itself, especially in that DD&D ep. They did that in more than one instance. That was pretty clever.
On the mysteries: It's got this vibe that get the fans thinking... "THIS IS NOT ALL THERE IS TO IT, WE JUST KNOW!" and hence make them paranoid beyond lack of proper term and we just can't help but ask for more even if we still don't have everything figured out... It's because we DON'T have everything figured out that we ask for more, and when we do find the answers to them, turns out there something more to it (like DCMK? XD)... and then we ask for more again. It's a cycle, and a cognitive-friendly one at that (although I can't guarantee if it's sanity-friendly, LOL). Oh, BTW, me likes your drawing Nat-cchi LOL, please Gruncle Stan, give Mabel anything but THAT! HAHA. I ended up saying too much, din't I? XD

Thanks! And yes, I agree with most of what you said, though I believe the reason for that person's secretiveness was/is to protect the twins, is it not? Plus, you just can't get away from the mystery in Gravity Falls XD
You said you caught up; what do you think of the past two episodes? XD

No idea Natsumi xD
Quick question guys: The site where I'm watching the episodes has some Gravity Falls Shorts before the start of season 2 (I'm on ep 14 now, the one of the bottomless pit) and there's seven of them. So I'd rather watch first the second season other than see these shorts and like this save them for after I finish, so my question is: is there anything relevant on these shorts? Is it better for me to not skip them or could I proceed without any problem?

Uh. Well. The mailbox one I know for sure is supposed to happen before the second season because of certain knowledge that they don't have yet, and I think there was another short that had them not knowing certain knowledge that they find out in the second season, so . . . I don't know, I watched the shorts before the second season because they were released between the first and second season, and I know that Quincy watched the shorts first, too . . .

Quick, what would Mabel want to and be able to do when she grows up? I'm writing a fanfic about Dipper's ghost hunting show (in Illinois in Amity Park), but I need to know what Mabel's doing while he's doing that.
Or should Mabel be Dipper's camera person?
Edit: Nvm, figured it out.
