Whoa, that was... unexpected indeed! Great premise, though. That's really cool! Here's something I found just now. Great use of back-playing (or am I using the correct term for it? ). Also features Plato's Allegory. (Oh, also a nice premise for a story...) Which reminds me of another video which uses the same method... except split-screen is involved too...

That was pretty neat! I don't know what the technique is called, but it's used really well. At first I was confused about why it looked like she was sometimes in forward motion and sometimes in reverse, but then when I got to the end I realized that the very first shot was in reverse to start with.

Let's just call it that: reverse play... When used in the cleverest of ways to tell a story, it's my favorite :3

Generally, I'm not one for Korean MVs. Most of the time, I find them flashy and unreasonably expensive, particularly the ones made to showcase the talents' awesome singing and dancing skills (can someone tell me why, though? Usually, the set and costumes used look super expensive; one can make his own ten-minute short, inclusive of a star-studded cast and three full-course meals for all involved in the production, IMHO). I can't watch most KPop MVs without twitching at the flashy colors or blinding lights... or that much resource spent unreasonably... uh, in most Korean MVs I've seen (I'm trying to be really specific, just to be fair). I don't wanna name-drop in fear of offending people.
But for some, specifically the ones that tell good story, that brings out emotions, they make my inner "Miss Julie Tearjerky" come out like a deprived little baby.
Just like this one... One of my all-time favorite Korean music videos, alongside Super Junior's No Other (which BTW earns a little extra points for me, cos one of the boys have a charm with kids, the music is great, the lyrics are great, and it's like a paradise for all the little things most girls like guys to do for them :"3).
F.T. Island's Severely...

I got another one. At first I was wondering what the point was about all the stuff the lady kept coming to the lost and found for, but then I got to the end. There's no voice, but the animation is very expressive.

I know this isn't a short film, but I didn't know where else to put it and I really wanted to share it. So, technically this is all one film, just split in three parts, and each is about 1h20min long. Here's the official description: What is it that makes us human? Is it that we love, that we fight ? That we laugh ? Cry ? Our curiosity ? The quest for discovery ? Driven by these questions, filmmaker and artist Yann Arthus-Bertrand spent three years collecting real-life stories from 2,000 women and men in 60 countries. Working with a dedicated team of translators, journalists and cameramen, Yann captures deeply personal and emotional accounts of topics that unite us all; struggles with poverty, war, homophobia, and the future of our planet mixed with moments of love and happiness. Vol. 1 deals with the themes love, women, work, and poverty. And oh my goodness, I don't even know where to start. I saw a small clip from Vol 2 the other day, pretty much without context, and I was immediately intrigued. So, today I watched Vol 1 and it was moving, and inspiring and eye-opening and heartbreaking and so much more. It was so fascinating to hear all these stories, and how differently people think about the same thing. To be honest, my own reactions to some of them were quite eye-opening as well, because they made me aware (once more, I tend to forget about it) of how biased my own world view is, and at the same time it was interesting to see how their experiences shaped the way they perceive the world. I think I'm still kind of processing the whole thing - it was just .. I don't even know, I'm kind of speechless. But I'm definitely going to watch the other parts. Sorry again for hijacking this thread with something that is very obviously not a short movie, but I felt like this needed sharing.

Just gotta leave these here for no reason except a failed attempt at engaging people into analysis...
WARNING for deceptively child-friendly-looking setting, (disturbingly) catchy musical numbers, disturbing content, metaphorical imagery and basically television as a tool for hypnotism xD
1- Creativity
2- Time
3- Love
4- Technology
5- Healthy Consumption
(so,yeah... It's kinda like a shorts series of some sort. My opinion: it's the kind that makes you question things... aaaaand then try to keep you from ever questioning them, SERIOUSLY, THIS IS THE KIND OF SHORT THAT'S NOT FOR KIDS!)

Haven't watched many short films lately, but when I saw this one I figured I should stop by and post it here.

I don't really know how to link videos. But I noticed no one has linked 'The Gunfighter' yet, whichi is definitely my favourite short-movie. A gunfighter walks into a bar. Everyone can hear the narrator talking, chaos ensues.
