I have a lot more hit-or-miss luck with BookOff, mostly since they keep moving stuff around in mine so I always have a hard time finding what I'm looking for. I tried to see if I could find some Wands or ZARD albums last time I was thee, but I couldn't find where they moved J-Pop. I really, really want to. But from experience, making a film is so expensive and time consuming. My student film cost me less than $500, but I couldn't pay any of my actors or pay for their transportation or even buy them a nice dinner since I wasn't working at the time and didn't turn in my budget on time. I also wound up filming most of it my garage (that I don't have anymore) and by sneaking around. It came out okay in the end, but with this project I'd want to exceed that. Kickstarter would be an option, but I'd have to make sure I have the rights to the story first which means, again, a lot of money. Plus I don't know the legal side of it.

The Book Offs in Japan are like that too. They move stuff around on a monthly basis. At times it was really nice because I would find new things, but then there was the not knowing where the stuff I was actually looking for was and the accidentally running into the ecchi stuff.
It's a real shame that filming costs so much. That would be such a cool project! Sadly, I focus on criminal and personal injury law, and that's more of a contract and intellectual property rights matter. I'm also not from New York, so I don't know a thing about your state's laws. I'd have to look at the New York statutes, so I couldn't tell you.
I hope you are eventually able to do it, though!

I considered going to law school for a while, but I couldn't see myself being too passionate about it. Plus there are way too many lawyers in that field, so it's not like it would help increase my chances of employment. Maybe some day I'll find someone to help me with that, I'm going to need it if I want to get my production company up and running. Plus NYS has some of the weirdest legal shit, and that's not even getting into city, county, or borough laws.
I hope so too. Maybe I'll just write the screenplay some day and just shop around for a producer. I just really want to focus on putting my name to stuff though.

*Does celebratory dance* Volumes 60-85 on their way to me! Only 63 and 73 are on back order, so they're going to hold up the entire shipment. Oh well. I think having manga that I haven't read yet just sitting on the shelf waiting for me to catch up will give me more incentive to get reading.
I think it'll also be super tempting to just peek ahead. *Wants to see the Scarlet or the Crimson Arc or whatever everyone else has been talking about for months now* >.<

Yay! You're getting all the tankoubons! Or at least, all the ones so far.
YES! Mikau, catch up so you can read the Scarlet Arc! I would say you'd also be able to see Conan's face in the Kite Competition one ahead of time, but unless you read SUPER fast, then the anime will get to it before you do XD

Considering it takes me about fifteen to twenty minutes to read a Conan chapter in Japanese, I believe I won't be caught up for another year or so. Considering that I get around to reading a volume every two weeks, things don't look good, people. But maybe having the newer volumes sitting there on the shelf will provide a little more motivation. We can only hope.

Slow and steady. You'll make it in no time. (Or you can be like me and get impatient and read out of order until you reach the good stuff.)
