I may end up bowing out of this one. Not because I don't have an idea, but because it's turning out more involved than I expected. I'm at 400 words and still barely building up, so this may likely run long. I do like the idea though, so I intend to write it out, but it probably won't be for this contest if I want to do the idea justice.
If you're curious though, the premise (and, thus, the threat) is Ran confronting Shinichi with his lies up to this point and telling him in no uncertain terms that if he ever, ever lies to her again, even once, for any reason, they're done.
It's inspired by a scene from the podcast Alice Isn't Dead where the protagonist, reunited with her wife Alice, at last, and learning Alice left in the name of protecting her, tells her angrily that, when push came to shove, she protected Alice, not the other way around.

I’ll look forward to that when you get it done. I really liked when you shared that scene from the podcast with us in chat. I thought it really fit the Ran-Shinichi dynamic.
