As with the 5k Contest this time, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting enough entries for this one either. If you guys want to suggest themes and optional prompts, I’ll start a vote next Sunday, the nineteenth.
Question: Is there some other kind of contest you guys would be interested in doing? I’d like to keep offering a longer contest option to maybe inspire the start of multi-chapter fics and longer one-shots, but it doesn’t seem like this contest ever draws much participation. Do you guys want to keep doing this, or is there some other option you’d like to see offered? Could we expand the word range to maybe something like 5-10k, or does anyone else have any ideas for how we could tweak or improve this existing contest?

This might not be the best idea, but maybe convert this to a chapter fic contest? Something like a three chapter contest, with about 1500-3000 words per chapter? I don't know. I always find it hard to get past 2000 words with one-shots, even if I have the time to write a longer piece. Although keeping the contest is probably a better idea than introducing a new version of it, since any other type of longer contest is likely to face the same problems.

I like the idea of a multi-chap contest, but maybe chapter length can be up to the author?

At this point, I’m thinking we do one more 6-8k while I try to hammer out the logistics of a first-three-chapters type contest. Did anyone have any theme suggestions?
