So this is actually the first time I tried doing a prompt. I feel it´s not like what the person who wished for it to turn out… but I hope you´ll like it anyway!
Prompt: "Gosho Boys in a talk show! Today's topic: Girls"
Words: 1361
Characters: Heiji, Shinichi, Kaito
Big THANKS to Taliya who worked as my Beta again <3
Confessions
The crowd greeted the boys with applause, while the blonde host smiled a bleached white smile.
“Hello everybody! I’m Hiroko Nagata and I’m pleased to welcome the two famous high school detectives Kudo Shinichi and Hattori Heiji, along with the young magician Kuroba Kaito, to our show today!” She cheered while the three of them took their seats, cheerily waving their hands at both the red blinking light of the camera and the audience.
“We would have loved for Saguru Hakuba to join us, but unfortunately he’s still overseas.”
“What a loss,” Hattori snorted, but the moderator just ignored him, throwing her shoulder-long hair back while her eyes scanned her guests.
“So maybe you would like to start, Kudo-kun, or did your interest suddenly switch? Since you’re looking at Kuroba-kun so intensely…” Her question caught the detective by surprise. His head snapped up, eyes blinking in confusion before his ears turned a bright shade of red while he desperately tried to ignore the wide grin this Kuroba guy was giving him.
“What? NO! It’s just – arg… never mind,” he grumbled, rubbing his hand through his hair in frustration. Of course he had been staring at him!
That guy was wearing his damn face!
Honestly, had no one else noticed that?
He could only think of one person who looked that similar to him. The smirk from the man only confirmed his suspicions, earning Kuroba a glare from the detective.
Hiroko was about to lead the conversation back to the main topic before the dark skinned high schooler interrupted her with a frown.
“Okay, so what is this all about in the first place? I get Kudo and – ugh Hakuba, but why him?” he questioned, nodding to the Kudo lookalike sitting beside him. It took all of her strength to keep her lips from twitching; she straightened herself in the bright red chair and managed to keep a smile on her face.
“Well you’re all fairly well known young men, and perfect to talk to about our topic today: Girls.” She observed how Hattori’s eyes widened while the other two boys paled alongside him.
“WHAT?”
“Why Hattori-kun? You‘ve read your invitation, right?”
Silence.
The high schoolers were shrinking back into their seats, avoiding her look.
It was her turn to grow pale now. She blinked, hardly believing what was happening.
“Did any of you?”
A synchronized flinch was all she got.
‘Really?’
Kaito seemed to be the first to recover from the shock, smirking at the still flabbergasted faces of his opponents.
“Hah, that’s ironic: the great detectives sitting here with no clue at all. “
Of course, that touched Hattori’s already thin nerves.
“Hey, I didn’t even want to come! If she wouldn’t have—”
“So Kazuha got you here?” Shinichi cut in, to which Heiji answered his question with a nod.
“You?”
The Tokyo-based detective pinched his nose with a sigh.
“My mum.” He murmured, barely loud enough to hear before he caught the glance of the mad grinning thief.
“Stop smiling like an idiot Kaito-kun, it’s not like you knew about the show’s topic.”
“Maybe, but at least I’m not the one behaving like a child. Besides, I don’t know why you two are like that, but I for one would love to talk about these marvelous creatures, such as this lady sitting here.” He smiled, leaning close to the blonde before a little peach colored rose appeared with a flick of his fingers. The hostess took it with a hesitant smile, blinking at the camera and unsure of what to do with the whole situation before she managed to get her voice to work again.
“That’s right… maybe we should just go back to topic. Hattori-kun, you have mentioned Kazuha. She is your girlfriend right? Just like Mori Ran is to you Kudo-kun, or Nakamori Aoko to you Kuroba-kun?”
“Huh?” Hattori blinked, while Shinichi couldn’t believe what he just heard.
“Nakamori!?”
“What? How would you know…” Kaito stuttered.
Hiroko took a deep breath; finally she was back on well-known ground.
“We might be having a nice little chit-chat here boys, but we are still reporters.” She smirked, causing the crowd to share her laugh.
“This information really wasn’t hard to come by.” A sinister smile spread on her lips, while she knowingly looked from one to another.
“So how did you meet?”
“ Preschool?”
The answer given in unison from all three made her eyebrow twitch, while the crowd turned dead silent.
“Uh that’s… a nice coincidence. Must have been love at first sight?”
“L-l-love?” Heiji squeaked while Kaito went full into denial.
“No chance!”
She looked at the two boys in confusion, before her eyes settled on Kudo- finally, at least someone who was reacting the way she thought he would.
“What about you Kudo-kun? You seem so silent.” Hiroko smiled and the crowed cooed along with her, but the detective’s face just flushed a brighter shade of red.
“I- um…”
“Aww… look at that, he’s blushing all red,” Kaito teased the detective, who’s ears were still glowing when he argued back.
“That’s because I’m the only grown up here!”
“Sure you are! “ Kaito snorted, while Heiji eyed his friend curiously.
“No way Kudo?! You liked her like that way back then?!
“I- “
Of course Hattori didn’t let him finish, cutting him short with a grin.
“Well that’s just lovely, but at the same time it’s a little bit embarrassing and somewhat sad that it still took you so long to come clear, isn’t it?” A raised eyebrow from Kudo was all he got at first.
“What? At last I had the guts to tell her! You two still seemed to struggle about that!” he argued.
“Oh come on, I don’t even know if all this nonsense about “Love is zero” in London is even worthy of being called a confession!”
“Well I don’t take such things as a challenge, to see who’ll get the better location and all that.” Shinichi shot back, but Kaito seemed to be more interested about the whole “confession” thing itself.
“London, eh Kudo? And you didn’t scare her away with all that Holmes stuff?“ Kid smirked, while Heiji loved to fill him in.
“Well actually-“
“Shut up Hattori!”
The reporter’s eye twitched; she wanted to talk about what they liked about women, what they did to steal their hearts. Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that the conversation would turn out like this.
“Beside what about you two?” the detective grumbled.
“I know you’re blind as a mole when it’s about Kazuha’s feelings, Hattori-“
“Am not!”
“- and I might not know much about your love interest, Kaito-kun, but it seems you’re no better.” Shinichi deduced, making the thief frown like a child as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.
“It’s not that easy,” he murmured, unable to hid his blush behind his well-worn poker face.
“Well, maybe it would be if you would just give up your… night time job?” Shinichi teased with a smirk.
“Uh?” But Hattori’s question was simply ignored.
“You’re one to talk Kudo-kun!” the thief hissed, earning an approving nod from the dark skinned detective.
“He’s right. You had an advantage by being so close to her.”
“You call that an advantage?!” But both boys ignored Shinichi’s unbelieving shout.
“That’s right, and you’re lucky that she didn’t break your nose all the way, when you finally told her,” Hattori teased.
“Not to mention that you still leave her at the whiff of murder. You know, at some time your nice Ran-chan’s patience will run out.”
“It’s not like Hattori is any different!” he argued, pointing to his friend.
“Yeah- but I haven’t confess to her yet!”
“Ha! So you finally admit that you love her!” Shinichi smirked, watching how Hattori’s face turned bright red.
“I-I’ve never-“
Hiroko sighed; even the crowd had grown silent by now, simply staring at the scene before them. She just hid her face in her hands, leaving the boys arguing about something so obvious that even their lousy reporters had seen it.
Besides… they knew they were live, didn’t they?
