So here are a series of line arts I have created immediately after I managed to get a hold (more like begged my mum to buy me) a Wacom tablet. I cannot even consider my efforts that good considering that I have messed up Kaito's hairline along his nape but I do hope these line arts can be a template for you guys to try out and bring your own spark of magic into (let's be honest) my rather dull attempts at drawing. One more thing, if any of you guys are interested, these drawings were specifically made for my ongoing story OMAT and would be reflected by the fact that the file names are entitled Kudo Keijirou etc etc. If you wish to use any of them for your own artwork, all I ask is for you acknowledge my efforts (also sending me a link to your finished product would be an honour!!).

Wow, these look so cool! It's always interesting how you can use a different art style, but still somehow capture the essence of Shinichi and Kaito's profiles!

Very nice work with the lineart; it's extraordinarily clean-looking. Did you swap brushes between doing the hair and doing the face? The line weights are fabulous.

Thanks for the compliments guys. It's good to know that my efforts are considered good in your eyes. I would like to address some specific comments too! To asssasin8, I'm glad that Shinichi and Kaito still retain the things that make them who they are. My art style isn't exactly DC at all and I was afraid their characters would be lost in my drawings. Also, the file you sent me seems to be missing from dropbox. Feel free to attach it to your reply here! I would always want to show off other people's take on my work. To ichthyophobia, my drawing process is kind of like cheating really. I merely use Photoshop's pen tool and path trace to do line-arts. The only things I do by hand are the original sketch and colouring-in. But you're right though, I used different brush sizes between the hair and face outlines...

Sorry if the image is kind of small, I just sort of took it off the site... ^_^; Attachments:

Nice style Euric, I like that it's no exactly the same as Gosho's style but you still used some of distinct characteristics of it. I think the different emotions/facial expressions you captured look really good. Hope to see more DCMK characters. I've experimented with the same technique for lineart awhile ago. The line quality can be really nice using the pen tool and works well for a lot of people. Personally, I like doing it by hand nowadays and it is much quicker and easier for me. Plus, lately I like using paint pens for thick lines for a more western comic feel. assasin8, the image is really small. :-\ Did you click on Euric's original drawing to get the large size image?

Thanks Crimson, and assasin8, I wish I could see a larger version of the image too, from the glimpses I could see (at least, when I enlarge it) there is far better shading that what I could achieve for hair. If you are able to teach me hair shading, I would probably help teach you my ways of skin shading. To Crimson, my hands are quite shaky and I've only had 3 days experience with a graphics tablet so I can't exactly do more intricate stuff. Plus, I'm not the best artist out there. I could barely draw anything/anyone I have envisaged in a full body shot and/or in an action pose. I may major in Anatomy but I am still learning the intricacies of drawing the human body especially in a modified format such as anime/manga. Also, Shading hair is the death of me. I can't I'm not even exactly sure how to shade my OC's hair. If you could give me pointers or show me your attempt at shading Hiro-kun's hair, please do so. I would very much appreciate such a gesture. Adding 2 cents here, I'll post my attempt at colouring one of my Kaito sketches. As usual, I did the base colours first... Then I noticed that glaring flaw in Kaito's hair (this was during my first 2 hours at drawing line-arts digitally, so... I kinda didn't notice it), deleted that bit of extra line on him and moved the posterosuperior part of his hair a tad bit higher... Oh, and I decided to shade the skin in this part... Finally, colouring in the hair. This took me so long to figure out I was cringing at first as I am still pretty awful at this part. Hope it didn't turn out too bad.
