Prompt: The crew just started their first year in university where the uni admin would randomly allocate them to their dorms. And as the cosmic powers would have it, Shinichi and Kaito are roommates. Kaitou KID would need to get creative this year.

Kuroba Kaito currently sat in his college dorm looking over at his roommate. There were any number of ways this situation could have come about to give him this particular roommate. Clerical error, or perhaps someone who knew they resembled one another, thought they were related, and assumed they would want to be together, perhaps a ploy arranged by the roommate himself. Regardless, in making Shinichi Kudo his roommate, Fate proved it had a sense of humor.
There was some good news. Kudo did not yet seem to realize just who he has been paired with. There had been no veiled threats, no suspicious remarks, just a simple introduction and hope they would get along. Assuming he was not simply feigning ignorance, something Kuroba doubted as he was definitely not his mother's son when it came to acting ability, that gave Kuroba the edge. This arrangement, however, complicated matters when it came to Kuroba's… extracurricular activities.
Crafting heist notes and research weren't significant hurdles. They could, as needed, be worked on in class or on visits back to his home, which he established a pattern of making every other weekend. Jii could handle most of the research and relay info to Kuroba as needed. No, the hard part laid in actually getting to his heists when one of the men dead set on capturing him was getting ready to leave at the same time.
If heists occurred only on his weekend visits home, that would draw unwanted attention. Same if he always had plans of his own when a Kaito Kid heist was scheduled. Mixing it up helped, but he had been forced to cut down on his work or risk setting off alarms in Kudo's head. Unfortunately, a challenge by Jirokichi Suzuki meant that, as a matter of pride, Kid had to act.
"I'm ready, Kuroba-kun," Shinichi said as he adjusted his necktie. Kuroba, dressed much more casually, hopped off of his bed.
"Great. Hey, you sure you don't mind giving me a ride to the library?"
"Not at all," Shinichi replied. "It's practically next door to the museum Kid is set to appear at, so it's hardly out of the way. Will you need a ride back?"
"No." Kuroba shook his head. "I can find my own way home so you can drop me off and go have fun chasing Kid."
"All right, then. Ran's waiting on us, so let's go."
If Kudo has even the slightest inkling he was giving a thief a lift to his own heist, he showed no sign of it. Of course, that wasn't at all what he was doing. He was merely giving his dorm mate a ride to the library around the corner… which just so happened to have easy roof access and a path to a blind spot in the museum's closed circuit TV cameras if one knew how to navigate it.
What Kuroba did not know was that Shinichi had found that blind spot and intended to have it under surveillance for Kid's arrival. Of course, by that point Kuroba would not be Kuroba, and the chase would be on. When the smoke cleared, either Kuroba Kaito would have gotten back to his room not long before his roommate returned, or Kaito Kid would be exposed and behind bars.
Kuroba knew where his money was.
