Hi guys,
I am writing a fic and am thinking of creating a few riddles/puzzles for Conan to solve from Kaito. I don't want it to be too KID-ish and the riddles i am thinking of coming up are landmarks/places for Conan to guess to get clues to get to know Kaito. Hope that makes sense....
Anyway, the few riddles i come up with are rather...open-ended, and i don't think it would be something Kaito would write.
So i was hoping to get some help with this? Or advice?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers Addy

So far, the 'riddles' I tend to write are more imagery based (or story based). I work from then end message (e.g. location/situation) then I look at what 'parts' I want to include. I like working with Japanese-based riddle then try and translate it into English, so I look at Kanji most of the time. But I did try my hand at English ones, though I look for double meanings in words and structure. Here's a bit of sample from my fic (search for my name in ff.net if you want to read more, I think I had quite a few riddles embedded both English & Japanese based).
シンデレラ走ったセカンド前 鈴の森に集まれた星星の目の下 太陽の光は月に奪う。 怪盗K I D (The Sun shall be liberated by the Moon, At the gathering of Stars in the Twinkling Woods, The Second before Cinderella's plight. Kaitou KID)
As you can see, a riddle is only as good as the story and taking the riddle out of the story, it starts to make a lot less sense. If anyone, not having read the fic and tries to solve the riddle, it sounds strange...
Does it help?

I tend to write riddles that make use of astronomy/astrology for the time/date while hinting at the location with some oblique description.
