Hello~ I'm StarlightDragons - I go by that name (or some variation / misspelling) on most sites, though you'll find me as DragonAce1999 on FF.net and some very, very old accounts that I don't really touch on anymore.
I was invited here from the aforementioned site, and I poked around a little before deciding to join. Brief warning, this is my first time participating in a community like this, so I apologize ahead of time if I stumble over things at first. I don't bite though, promise.
Hm, what else? I'm a fanfiction writer - slowly developing. I'm also an artist (you can find me on deviantART as StarlightDragons, if you wish), but don't expect much DCMK fanart from me until I've learned to draw people. Which I cannot do, currently. Working to convince myself to change that, though.
Plot bunnies are a problem for me; every little thing changed in an idea requires an entire story on its own. I tend to mentally create these elaborate stories and they all fall apart once written / typed down. Anyone else suffering from that? Tips?
For DCMK in particular, I like to ramble on and on about the characters and plot. I started out with the Detective Conan anime at first, but three-fourths of the way through it, I got really tired of all the anime-originals, so I used the detectiveconanworld wikia to skip the AO's and go straight to the manga-based ones. When I have time, though, I'm going back to watch those. There are some interesting cases in there! ...and some boring ones, but hey, it's a box of chocolates and cardboard. As of now, I'm keeping to the manga because it's so much further along than the anime. I won't spoil any of you who're watching the anime only, though, so don't worry!
My list of favorite characters is long. Think all of the main cast, especially Shinichi, Ran, Heiji, and Haibara. And then add on my police favs, Takagi and Sato. And then Kaito. You can't forget Kaito. FBI Jodie Starling is a fun character, but I adore(d) Akai Shuuichi. I even have a favorite among the crows - Vermouth. She's interesting and I just really enjoy her character. Also sorta interested in how she's going to turn out. Oh, and I mainly ship the canon / obvious ships - ShinRan especially - but if there's a good fanfiction that has KaiShin instead, that's not going to stop me from reading it.
I think that was a pretty long introduction, haha. In any case, it's nice to meet you all!

Hi StarlightDragons! Yay, another person to talk to about recent manga events ^_^ Are you reading the new chapters of Magic Kaito as well? The first of three new ones just came out recently. I like your Kaitou Kid thing at the end There are so many characters I like in DC as well. I understand your adoration of Akai. He is/was (depending on where in the story) amazing. And no, you can never forget Kaito I always have a hard time trying to figure out whether I like Kaito or Shinichi more, but now with Magic Kaito picking up again, I don't know. Kaito, you might be topping Shinichi for now. You know, for now. Unfortunately, I have no help about plunnies. I probably have 20 ideas of my own that I've taken notes about, but haven't started yet. Or started but haven't published. I need to finish my other stories first or I'll never finish them.

Hi! Yay! And yes, I am! It's really exciting to see Kaito back in action again. I haven't had the chance to watch the new episode yet, though I'm planning to, soon. Thank you! Took me a while to get the face and hat right, haha. I like that not a lot of them are just complete jerks (sans the usual murder culprits and like 90% of the BO) - some people do that, to spotlight the main character, but it's truthfully just really annoying. Akai really is/was something else, huh? Ha, if you forgot Kaito, he'd probably prank you enough times that you'd never not be able to think about him! I think I like Shinichi more as a main character, and probably because we just saw so much of him, but - as you said - with the Magic Kaito manga starting to move again, that can easily change. XD For now I'm still sticking to Shinichi (I blame the latest movie for countering my excitement for Kaito >.>). That's fine~ It's nice to know I'm not the only one drowning in an overload of bunnies, though. ^_^ I'm currently dealing with them by focusing on one specific story and trying to complete it (ha, that'll take forever) but who knows how long that'll last? Oh, I have to do that too - and sometimes I forget and just start a new idea before realizing, hey, I sorta need to finish this other one first!

It's very refreshing And with this new Kaitou Corbeau, even more exciting I can imagine. I'm not sure I'd ever be satisfied with it if I were to make one. Lol, that's true (about Kaito). Yeah, both the movie and the new chapter/anime counter each other. Although I think right now the movie did more for my excitement about Akai than Conan/Shinichi (even though he was awesome in that movie), and the new chapters are definitely boosting up Kaito. If there was any point where Conan turned back into Shinichi, then I'm sure I'd have even more absolutely no idea who's my most favorite. Lol, the only way for me to deal with it is by saying to myself, "Okay, these ideas NEED to be one-shots or I'll never finish any of them." Let's see . . . ever since I started fanfiction a year ago, I've only finished two stories, and the first one was because I had no other ideas at the time. I have two accounts on ff (Mangaka Sapphire N and Detectivewriters) and have unfinished stories on both of them. Three unfinished on Sapphire N and one on detectivewriters.

It certainly is. I was almost worried that it wouldn't be continued until Detective Conan was finished, and knowing how long that might take... Well, I'm glad that didn't happen! XD Yess, and I was really startled by the appearance at first, haha. I think that old person did notice Kaito's mic, though, but pretended not to for some reason (maybe to catch Kaito Corbeau?)... Anyway. I'm not exactly satisfied with it now, but it's as close as I can get to it. I guess I gave up after that, haha.
I imagine nobody at his school is willing to cross him and his pranks... Except Aoko. And Hakuba. And maybe Akako. Yeah, that's what I meant to say. ^^; That the movie took attention away from Kaito, mostly, and then gave that bit of excitement to Akai instead. Shinichi wasn't quite as attention-grabbing, but that's fine. We pay him enough attention on a regular basis, after all. XD That would imply that there's an important arc going on, though, which would make me snap immediately into a more DC-oriented mindset, since plot progressions are so few and far between. (Meanwhile Magic Kaito has only just come back and already presenting an ominous new chara XD)
Oh, dear. I could never get myself to write oneshots after I planned the plot out, but if I catch the plunny early enough, then I can bear to give it only a little one-shot. I've published about five, in various different categories, but then I deleted all but three of them. And recently I put up my first DCMK one... And I already had a moment where I considered tearing it down to rebuild again. None of mine are even close to being finished. XD

Yeah, that old person was weird. I wonder who exactly he is, too, other than someone trying to catch Kaitou Corbeau. You know, that whole temperature thing seems obvious now that I think about it, and yet I've never thought about it before. Have you tried using =s instead of :s for the top hat yet?
I've watched that last scene before the song three times other than the first time I saw the movie, and for two different parts. First part: when Conan kicked the ball. The way he said "Ike!" was a first, and I really like how they did that. Second: Subaru-san, RIGHT before the song. Yeah. I'm hoping that 1) MK won't leave us with a cliffhanger after the three chapters, and 2) something important will come when DC comes back. But for DC that might be too much to ask for considering recent chapters.
Wow . . . Yeah, you have it worse than me then . . .

He was pretty clever with the whole cold-room and all, but still... I wonder if he's a crow. I mean, they have a sense hiring for very intelligent people (...mostly XD) and it would make sense that they could have someone like him on their team. On the flip side, it might be a red herring and he's actually only there to introduce Kaito Corbeau or maybe he's actually just a semi-regular justice-upholder type person. The cold is one way to stop Kaito, but if you put the gem into an aquarium... Well. XD
I think I did, at one point, and it looked odd so I changed it... I think. Still playing around with it, haha.
It really was dramatic, wasn't it? I was on the edge of my seat. Really? I'll have to check that, I must've missed it when I watched it. XD And yes, Subaru-san. Of course. That's a really important part. Cliffhangers are evil, I hope they don't appear! Hoping for something plot-relative in DC may be wishful thinking indeed... But we'll see.
I blame it on the fact that I bounce fandoms a lot. XD

Yeah, I was thinking he might have been one as well until Kaitou Corbeau showed up. It makes more sense for Corbeau to be part of the crows than the old man. But hey, maybe it's the other way around an Kaitou Corbeau is the red herring. Lol, yes, that's one of the best defenses of all XD Well, hopefully you'll get it right But it was amazing The part with Conan and his voice when he kicked the ball or me thinking it's the first time they've done that? Yeah . . . hey, at least we got some plot recently. Maybe it's just that I don't want to get out of the plot . . . Lol.

True, true - on both points. But who knows? When the next chapter comes out, we'll see! It's interesting to think about, haha, but also too easy to think in loops. XD Wonder if his fear of fish will ever be actually explained? Probably not, maybe it'll just be a thing, like Shinichi's singing. Hopefully I'll be able to do his face justice It was! Hm, yeah, I just went back to that part, I see what you mean now. That is the first time they did that, and it's a really cool effect! Plot-relative arcs come in few and far between, let's savor it while we still can. XD

Once it finally gets translated. It seems the third chapter will be out in Japan by the time the second is translated. True I hope Kaito's fear will be explained. I'm really interested in how it happened. Or maybe he's just always been scared of them cuz of how they look? Hopefully See what I mean? I love that part! Yes, we should And for now we should enjoy Magic Kaito.

I think I'm pretty decent at developing plot and outling so if you' like to chat about that sometime maybe I can give you some tips. I do tend to favor long comlex plots that allow for indeprh character development and subplots. Your story seems really ambitious, I just hope you figured out where it's headed. I think once you get into some really orional content it can get quite interesting. There's a lot of questions I have from what I read so far.

Yeah... The wait is always the longest part of the process, as well as the most frustrating. XD I seem to remember Kaito shrieking when he saw a slug on his hat, and another time when a snake hissed at him, so it may just be slimy/scaly things. Which fish are both, so it's like a double dose of fear. Actually, that makes a bit of sense... We'll see. Or not. Hopefully Yeah! It was great work on their part. Agreed~ //goes to watch Kaito stuff

Thank you so much! I'll keep that in mind. My current story is leaning towards a more complex plot, and I hope it turns out that way. I've got an idea of where it's headed and even where its ending is, but we'll see if it actually gets there. Personally, I'm already tired of following the plot, and once some important things happen and let me finally go on an original plot instead, I'll be happier than Kaito in a fish-less world. Thanks again, I hope to clear up some of those questions in later chapters~
