Spoiler alert: I've been struggling on this one. Have some written-on-a-fever-I'm-sleeping-now fluff?
Prompt: Shinichi X Ran X Shiho OT3, please and thank you.
Wordcount: 510 (Unedited, and given I'm running late and was dry-heaving earlier it may stay that way for a wee while)
Agasa's basement was shaking. Well, perhaps not literally, but two miniature adults were resolving an argument that had been brewing through sarcastic jabs for the last month.
"No, you don't need to test it, I will take it today!" shouted an angry Conan, wearing nothing but an oversized hospital gown.
"Yes, I do need to test it. Even with the data we retrieved, I haven't been able to confirm that this antidote will work, without causing our substantially painful deaths." Haibara shot back quietly, but angrily, "Do I need to remind you that I am trying to cure a poison which should be lethal within moments of ingestion? Last I checked you didn't have funeral plans involving being poured into the incinerator."
A frustrated Conan snarled back, "No, but you still don't need to test it..."
Haibara let her voice raise in response this time. "Kudo. You are the detective here. You give me a rational reason as to why you can't wait just a week to make sure that there are at least no immediate problems?"
Appeal to rationality did little to hinder the young detective, screaming in response "WHY CAN'T YOU SEE THE OBVIOUS PROBLEM!". Before the argument could turn further nasty, the door into the basement creaked open, letting a beautiful figure flow down the stairs.
"Now, Ai," Ran began, sitting on the ground next to where Haibara stood, "What I think Shinichi was trying to say was that we trust you, and we trust that the antidote will work." Haibara carefully let herself sit on the ground as well.
"But... what if it's wrong..." Haibara whispered, "What if it breaks everything again..."
"And that's the other thing we both want to say - you mean so much to us. If it goes wrong for you, then it's going to hurt us just as much."
"Yes... but you'd have each other..."
"Idiot" came Conan's deadpan voice, from across the room. "It wouldn't be the same. Besides, I've trusted you on the antidotes before. Please, this time, trust us, and trust yourself - you're more than a lab rat, Haibara."
"... fine." Haibara sighed, although it was a sigh that came with an appreciative smile. "It'll hurt more than usual, you know? Normally we've only used these when you've been sick, but I think that would cause problems to make it a permanent shift back. You sure you want to go through that today?"
Before Conan could reply, Ran cheerfully did so, pulling Haibara into a hug "Surely that's more of a reason to get it done then? No need to wait for Shinichi to get another bug, he seems to spend half the time ill!".
Haibara gave a knowing smile. "Indeed. In that case, I need to get Agasa-hakase to do an actual health checkup on you, and I need to go find something a little less likely to strangle me."
And like that, she climbed the stairs out of the balcony, reaching up to the door handle to exit, for what would hopefully be one of the last times.
