Current status: Not accepting new requests—my apologies.
Beta Profile/Bio:
Describe who you are as a beta-reader, your betareading style, and/or expectations of anyone that wishes to acquire your services.
I am American born and English is my native language, so my grammar, punctuation, and spelling will reflect that—however, I am also quite familiar with the spelling and phrasing of the Queen's English as well. I am more than willing to help if English is a second language, but I will not write your story for you—that is your job, not mine. I will do my absolute best to keep the style of the author intact, as I have no desire to overwrite the author's voice with my own and it is not my original work.
As a proofreader, I am a pretty nit-picky reader who will pick up minute spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. I will take a while to read what is given because I will read through it several times before I am satisfied.
As a beta reader, I can and will be blunt with my opinions on the storyline, so be aware that there can be a lot of red when I return a fic. I will do my utmost to help better the plot if I believe there is room for improvement.
I am familiar with all of the anime listed through the anime and not necessarily the manga.
My Strengths:
Honesty is not boasting. Name areas of betareading/writing you excel at. Everyone has a different perspective of the world and skills.
I am good at finding grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes. I like diving into people's brains and getting into their motives and personalities, and seeing what makes them tick and what makes them act and react the way they do. Now, that does not mean I am great at it, but it is something that I like to do and try to make work. It helps if I am familiar with the characters. I'm also a great sounding board to bounce ideas off of, to generate new ideas from different angles, or to flesh out existing ones.
My Weaknesses:
Perfection is the pursuit of perfection. Talk about your weaknesses as a beta reader/writer.
I am not great at finding loopholes in convoluted plots. Perhaps it's a result from being brain-fried at work, but I no longer like thinking too hard. I will if you force me to, however. If I'm not familiar with a fandom, I honestly don't really know how useful I will be to you aside from grammar/spelling/punctuation/style issues. Also, I have a tendency to not italicize non-English words, so just a heads up. I am also not much of a romance or smut writer, so asking me for help on how to romance someone might be beyond me, though if you want me to do simple grammar/punctuation for smut and the like scenes, I am not opposed.
Preferred:
Are there some type of stories you would prefer to beta over others?
One shots or multi-chaptered stories are fine with me, as long as there IS a plot to it. I will, however, gravitate towards anything with strong characterization or is plot-driven. I would prefer it if the story were in a fandom I am familiar with.
Not My Cup Of Tea:
Are there some type of stories you would not beta read?
I'm pretty open to anything moderately serious and am not terribly squeamish. Self-insertions/OC-focused stories aren't really my thing, and neither are crack or poetry.
Fandoms Offered:
Are there any particular fandoms that you can beta for?
Detective Conan, Magic Kaito, Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, Fullmetal Alchemist, Saga of Tanya the Evil, Assassination Classroom, Attack on Titan, Code Geass, Death Note, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XV, Persona 5, Harry Potter
I am also on FFN as a registered beta reader.
