Hello all!
I'm an anthropology major interested in going into archaeology, so I get to dig stuff up and study it ^_^ I've been a writer since I was old enough that my parents stopped telling me bedtime stories and I decided to make up my own (which got increasingly more complex, plot-wise and character-wise, as I grew up).
I've been a DCMK fan since 2009 (so, five years), but I'm relatively new to the fanfiction scene. I joined FF.net last November and then AO3 in May (my username, MeridianGrimm, is the same in both places, as well as on my tumblr). I'm writing one mystery series that's approximately 40,000 words right now about Heiji and Conan/Shinichi solving cases with a Heiji POV. I've also written several oneshots which are mystery, humor, romance, or some combination thereof for pairings such as KaiSagu and SaguShin (all pairings reversible). I ship lots of things, and I'm pretty good about ship-and-let-ship (is that even a phrase, or did I make it up?) when I encounter pairings that I don't really support. I'm a sucker for long, mystery-heavy stories with good characterization.
Fun fact: I did a Kaitou Kid cosplay once. My favorite part was the monocle, which was made out of wire and had no lens. I still love it.
I'm glad to see a lot of familiar users from FF.net and AO3 X)
Cheerfully, Meri

Welcome! Both anthropology and archaeology sound like very interesting choices. I've been a fan since 2004 watching Case Closed, but I'm pretty new to writing fanfic myself believe it or not, heh. I completely agree with ship-and-let-ship! I think it's not worth being so uptight about others' preferences and spoil the fun. It's great to have another mystery fan who enjoys good characterization and plot around. Oh, another cosplayer. Was that your only one?

Kaitou Kid has been my only anime cosplay so far, but I've also done a steampunk cosplay that I'm proud of. This Halloween I'll be walking around campus as Maka Albarn from Soul Eater (Soul scythe and all).
Ooh, I had a thought. I don't know if a DCMK cosplay thread would belong on this site, but I'd be interested in reading about what other people do for cosplay.

Aww yeah, another cosplayer! (I'm working on Aoko currently, even though I've done a lot more in the past).

YAY! Another KaiSagu fan! I have a lot of your fics on my must-read list, but I have read your most recent ones: The Best Kind of Strange, Turnabout, and The Confidant. I really want you to write a sequel of sorts for The Best Kind of Strange, because I'd love to read a fic where KID courts Saguru. There are so many with Shinichi and KID/Kaito, but none for our favorite half-Brit. I've toyed with the idea of writing my own but... Perhaps we can collaborate? I think it could be fun. Let me know if you're interested.

doku - Cool stuff! I'd love to hear about your other ones too and how you make them. I don't know if most people make *all* the pieces of their costume, but for me, I go to the thrift store for some things like Kid's jacket and white pants, and then I make things like that cape with the funny shoulder attachments and my atrocious but wonderful monocle. SharaRaizel - It's funny that you should mention a fic about Kaito courting Saguru. At the end of The Confidant I commented that Kaito definitely wanted some of that British detective adorableness (and you made a note about that in your AO3 comment), so I'm ten (double-spaced) pages into a fic with Kaito stealth-courting Saguru. He won't know what hit him. I may write something that's a direct sequel to The Best Kind of Strange later, and I really love the idea of collaboration. What would be the easiest way to exchange messages, if we did that? FF.net has PMs, or I could just give you my email, which I check constantly. Or perhaps there's a better way that I'm not thinking of right now. Looking forward to hearing from you X)

I usually buy a lot of my pieces. I can't sew, but the pieces I do make are usually just hot glue.
I've been lucky that a lot of what I've done has been plain clothes (i.e. Teen Wolf and Epic Meal Time) or easy to pull off super heroes.

I'd say if you'd want to make a Dcmk specific cosplay thread that'd be fine in the general Dcmk board, or cosplay in general could go on the off-topic board.
