Sup! I am Shara Raizel. I'm a 22-year-old otaku from all over the USA, and am currently in my 5th year at college as a Creative Writing English Major with a Minor in Film Studies. You may know me by the same name from ff.net, deviantART, and Archive of Our Own for my Digimon, Detective Conan/Magic Kaitou and various miscellany cross-over fanfics and fan art.
My dad is a retired marine, but when he was in active duty my family moved all over the place. I've live on both coasts and even spent 6 years of my life living in Japan, but not all at once though, it was for two separate tours: 1996-1999 and 2004-2007. Obviously it was while living in Japan (the second time) that I gained my love for anime and manga. I was watching the original Pokemon anime (first tour) and Naruto Shippuden (second tour) before they even aired in the USA. Sadly I didn't REALLY get into anime and manga much until I moved back stateside to Virginia and had access to English print & dub stuff.
I loved the library in the Virginia town I lived in after Japan though because they had a HUGE manga section and that's where I discovered Case Closed and fell in love with our chibi tantei and boisterous osakan. It didn't hurt that in the English version, Ran Mori is a Rachel (which is my real first name) and Shinichi Kudo was Jimmy Kudo, Jimmy being the name of a Sherlock Holmes fan and old crush I had left behind in Japan. Coincidence? Maybe, but it was enough to get me reading the manga and latter buying every Case Closed boxset and movie that Best Buy had to offer. It wasn't until three years later, after moving to Minnesota for collage after graduating high school in Virginia, that one of my dorm-mates introduced me to fan fics and fanfiction.net (as well as Doctor Who and Firefly. Yes, she was a life ruiner, but is still my best friend to this day). To make an already long story shorter, I got hooked and started both writing and reading fan fiction. Sadly it wasn't until I started reading Detective Conan fan fiction that I started watching the original Japanese dub on my DVDs and learned their Japanese names after being desensitized by their (admittedly somewhat) crummy English ones.
I write a good number of Magic Kaitou/Detective Conan fan fics, most (if not all) of them staring Hakuba Saguru who has somehow managed to worm his snooty British nose into my heart and constantly competes with Kuroba Kaito for my favorite Gosho Boy. I love them all, but there's something about Hakuba that I just love and he's a joy to write. My favorite DC/MK pairings/threesomes are KaiHaku, HakuKako, HakuAo, KaiAo, KaiHakuAo, and HakuKaiShin. I write a LOT of KaiHaku and have a good number of eventual KaiHakuAo in the works.
I'm excited to be here on this site and am looking forward to chatting and sharing with all of you! Please feel free to message me if you would like to chat or talk shop. You'll have to be patient with me though, I'm new to forums so I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate one and... yeah. Newbie!
