lol well, yeah xD
in case anyone's interested, my steps are:
1. draw by hand with pencil (whatever type you like) the characters, quite light
2. redraw as many times until I'm happy (can take forever. If so I try another pose or use the help of figurines or with luck try remembering a pose from a page of a certain manga, fanart or whatever and modify it)
3. fill the rest of the background (sometimes some of it has to be drawn with the character already, like when sitting it's the chair at least) I know what bakgrounds I can't make, and for those I would use the help of either a photo or photoshop effects or something: the clouds for instance are from brushes that you can download from deviantart and use on photoshop. Really useful! (ask me if you don't really get what I mean)
4. make a photocopy or photo just in case because now come the black pen! (it's better if you use one that uses chinese ink because it's the one that dries instantly so you won't worry of getting your hand and paper dirty and you'll erase the pencil without problem) I use a 0,5 mm or 1mm one so I can do it slowly without worrying too much. If I make a light mistake I'll fix it with photoshop but if I had to redo it I can always copy it with the photocopy/photo from earlier on MAKE SURE ALL LINES CLOSE SO IT'S LESS TROUBLE SELECTING ZONES WITH PHOTOSHOP TO FILL THEM WITH PAINT. Also if you feel the drawing needs it you can make the line of the main elements wider to add contrast between that and the background (to increase the different scenarios look)
5. photoshop: fix levels/contrast/blacks and whites, erase mistakes or close lines... select and paint. Use a palette you like or, why not, a original drawing: what better color for Kid's skin than the same of the anime with a similar light/shadow?
6. finishing touches: effects or whatever. Shadows should be included depending on the light and shadows but I suck at that
7. post it before you regret it xD I'm sure you all experienced it: the feeling of drawing a masterpiece which, as days pass, slowly becomes less and less of what you remembered it looked like
Since I don't use watercolors or those kind of tools I don't use any kind of special paper and it's A4 size so I can scan it without problems

Wow, amazing... o.o And that fatiguing steps. It must take a lot of time before you finish/post it. But it's really awesome and I love picture with Tóiči and Kaito. ^.^ I agree that find that "good pose" can take forever... it's exhausting and sometimes when you draw it and say: "Yes, it's good, I use it," next day, when it's coloured and you look at it you talk to yourself with: "Oh My God, where I left my mind? It's terrible!"

Windbritsle Not copied as in literally traced from somewhere but I do usually draw while watching something from the same style or a lookalike to get it as similar as possible and make it look more like the original, in this case DC. Death Note for instance I have to redraw it more times for it to come out naturaly and read at least 1 chapter to get those drawings memorized into my brain or something. Then, if I still get stuck I try other ways to get over it, the ones I mentioned. Everyone has to try their own methods, find out what they do best. It's like little helps to help you get it right, like if you check a book of drawing anatomy. Katrinka I hope it will get better with more experience, but I don't draw much. Used to all the time as a kid, thought, so my drawing skills are still pretty nice now. The best artists spend a hell lot of time drawing, so if we want to get even a little close to them the least we can do is give it our closest try My favourite artist at the moment is Shilin (serach 'shilin carciphona' in google) Her drawing tutorials were what made me realize how much time some artists have to spend to draw stuff Hahaha right? Right?! By the way, out of curiosity, of all the things I've drawn in my life, a drawing teacher of mine (had only 20 hours with her or such trying a lot of different stuff) said I've got talent and future if I were to study "fruit texture drawings". What exactly is that supposed to mean? How can I work with that professionally? Where do you learn that? (Apparently in some school in France) I know I should be glad at having talent at something... but nah, for the moment I'll pass xD

Soooooo... As a conclusion, you drew the background in the pics 0.o The first pic's background is ZOE AMAZING if it weren't for the poles (Danku Poles~) I would think it was a photo

The sea background is from Nagi no Asukara, I said so in my second post lol No wonder you thought it was good. I wish! It was an exception since I wanted to include that lovely view somewhere, thus inspiring Kaito's " change of scenery". Nice conclusion xD

Mmm... So I just finished yesterday with the first part of some important project, which leaves me with three wonderful days of complete freedom. So, I started working yesterday on the sketch of a new drawing. I felt like I should make it of the Kid Capture Brigade xD I won't make them wearing any uniform yet. It would be like the first official meeting set by Aoko at her house, where they discuss their uniforms there. I pictured like Aoko focusing on the sketches, Akako joining in for fun, Hakuba teasing Kaito for the general situation he's being forced to participate and Kaito embarassed and uncomfortable, being at the meeting surrounded by Aoko's decoration, (I can imagine her putting quite the effort xD ) and yet looking at Aoko, like remembering he wants her to be happy Anyways, here's the sketch (I'll redo Aoko's head a bit and redo completely Hakuba and Kaito since I'm not convinced) I'll be using a new method for this one, to try it out: Adobe Illustrator. I'be been using it for 3 years and I believe I'm quite good at it, but I haven't used it before because I don't think it's for this kind of drawing, really... more like icons or symbols or figures that aren't too complex And here's Akako, finished just now. Looking sexy as always. Aoko will be next. The thing about illustrator is that you don't draw directly: you draw with the mouse, telling where the line starts and where it finishes and adjusting the curve. Only that. So you can't screw up with how you want the line to go, like when you do it by hand. In other words, it takes time and isn't the traditional drawing yet like this you can make it as big as you want and it can't lose quality (seriously, it can ocupy a whole building or field and it will still look perfect). Also like photoshop it goes with layers and you can copy/paste/transform/move/rotate anything as you like (like I just copied the same eye and modified it slightly) What I want to do is something colorful and detailed at the end. Like for instance this style. I'll be posting the evolution today x3 I'm guessing it will be finished by tomorrow
