Firstly, I feel really bad for not being more active around here. I blame my utterly short attention span, reading too much fanfiction and getting sort of hooked on Naruto (mainly tearjerker arcs or backstories).
This brings me to this utterly screwed idea that’s been brewing in my mind since last week which is pretty much the lovechild of InuYasha, Naruto and Detective Conan.
In this idea of mine, the story starts off with the same premise as DC where Shinichi, in his utter lack of foresight of tailing two suspicious men after the rollercoaster case (debating whether they should be Gin and Vodka or someone else).
However, instead of shrinking into what would be Conan after being poisoned, Shinichi unfortunately (or fortunately?) activates his kekkei genkai/bloodline limit (term straight out of Naruto-verse, the reason why he ends ups with long, silver hair, golden eyes with slitted pupils and inu-mimi a la InuYasha) after his seal weakens (where the seal is located, I have yet to decide).
This weakening of the seal, in turn, awakens the slumbering Yin half of Touga (unofficial name of Inu no Taishou, father of InuYasha and Sesshoumaru, and in this twisted universe of my making, one of the great bijuu/tailed beasts) that’s been sealed within Shinichi.
Two scenarios could happen from here on. Either Shinichi loses control of his body and ends up killing the two suspicious men (hence why I’m debating if Gin and Vodka should’ve been the poor unfortunate souls) before fainting or they leave Shinichi behind with blind confidence that the drug would work.
Either way, the weakening of the seal unleashes a sudden burst of chakra (more akin to a non-destructive nuke explosion) that alerts the secret police (who, in actuality, are modern-day shinobi) of what happened.
From there, all hell breaks loose and we are left with an utterly bewildered Shinichi wondering why he was getting knocked out by Ran via a swift blow to the nape (she just happens to, not only be his best friend and love interest, but also an undercover kunoichi from a clan [which includes Aoko] oath-bound to protect Shinichi’s clan from centuries before).
The next time he wakes up, he finds himself way over his head. His parents had been ninjas all along, their country-hopping due to missions and campaigns. His brother Keijirou (rip-off from my other story OMAT, with Kaito really being Kei-chan) happens to have the Yang half of Touga sealed within him. Add in the fact that KID just so happened to be the original vessel to house the bijuu and their uncle and you’ve got a REALLY freaked out Shinichi (I should think anyway).
I’m pretty excited about this idea, really—much more so than Fractured Realities. The fact that I could take the concept of shinobis, teeter along metascience and blend it with dashes of fantasy without delving into religious territory is really tantalising. The concept of co-existing with a bijuu and a bloodline limit being the reason why Shinichi is an InuYasha rip-off makes me somewhat giddy in excitement.
Then there’s the fact that I don’t think anyone has really thought of this idea before (at least, I don’t think people are crazy enough to work with such a huge array of characters and ideas to choose from). I’m not too sure, but I’m willing to bet that people haven’t thought of InuYasha and Co. can be turned into bijuu and that the Gosho boys just happen to be their jinchuuriki (although I’m seriously considering some help in choosing of another term).
Pretty much, my bijuu and human vessels I’ve come up with is as follows:
Shinichi = Yin half of Touga (manifests as a more benevolent and caring form of Sesshoumaru)
Kaito = Yang half of Touga (manifests as the loudmouth, brash but otherwise benevolent and endearing form of InuYasha)
Heiji = Shippou
Saguru = Kouga
To be honest though, if I assign the bijuu that reflects more of who they are, I would go something like this:
Shinichi = InuYasha half of Touga (because I want Shinichi to have an affinity to wind based techniques *cough, cough* i.e. kaze no kizu jutsushot and have a love for ramen?)
Kaito = Shippou (because kitsune = pranks and illusions = Kaito, need I say more?)
Heiji = Kouga (because Shinichi and Heiji’s rivalry = InuYasha and Kouga’s antagonistic relationship and the whole East vs West dominancy = dogs vs wolves argument)
Saguru = Sesshoumaru half of Touga
I’m really not sure guys and some input would go a long way… maybe…
As for Rei Furuya and the secret police, I’m thinking along the lines of having an Itachi-esque role for him (again, would you guys agree with that?) The FBI? I’m not sure at all really. This is pretty much a prelim of what I have in mind and any ideas from you guys could make or break my ambition to write this messed up cross-over.
One more thing… I’m not sure if I should really stick with modern-day Japan as the setting or more along the lines of Naruto-verse.
However, I want to make myself clear. Although a lot of the shinobi ideas come from Naruto, I would like to limit their influence to mere concepts and elements rather than actually inserting characters from that universe into DCMK (which is really hypocritical of me considering I’m already extracting four characters from IY).
My reason? I want to be able to have free reign in designing political factions and countries as well as assign certain Naruto roles to already existing DCMK characters.
Anyway, what do you guys say? Should I give it a shot? Inputs would he gratefully appreciated.
