Okay, so as the title suggests, I'm kinda stuck on a ER scene and if anyone is able to help me, I'd be really grateful. I've never been submitted to the ER, so I have zero real life experience to draw from, and I'm already begging google for answers, but it's not getting me anywhere really. And using hospital tv shows as reference is .. well, you know. They're usually not that accurate (but if you know one that is, do tell). My main problems are: 1) I have no idea how things are going down. What happens in what order? 2) The paramedics who bring the patient in give him over to ... ? 3) Said paramedics, they give the doctor, or nurse, or whoever's there, a brief report, right? (Correct me if they don't) What do they say and how? Do they keep it simple or do they use specific medical terms (and abbreviations?) - This is actually my biggest problem right now, because the scene starts with that, so...yeah.. 4) Assuming that the patient is in a life-threatening state and immediate surgery is required, what happens? 5) If the patient is responsive, what kind of questions would they ask? And if the patient is conscious, but unresponsive, how is that handled? 6) Under what circumstances would the police get involded and if so, when and in what way?
Okay, so these are the things bothering me right now (and ther's probably more that I just can't think of right now), if you have any tips or advice or links to websites that could help, that would be great.

Hi there. Hope this help. First, the pt will be triage depend on how pt condition since your case is critical, it will be red zone. Straight to the resus room. The paramedic will pass over to the nurse and medical officer. Normally they will tell pt age, what happened, what pt condition ( such as broken ribs, burns, etc), then what Treatment they give. Oxygen, splint.,etc. Then, if they know the medical history of the pt and surgical history. Together whether pt have allergies or not. The medical term will be used if paramedic but if family member only layment... In resus, the MO will asses pt, blood test done. And medication given. The mo will decide which specialist will take care of pt depend on the condition. Well if emergency case. Depend wat case. If anything that compromise the airway pt will be intubated first then sent to operating theater. If not then, immediately sent without intubate. If pt loss a lot of blood, group crossmatch and blood transfusion will be given. What do you mean by concious but unresponsive? It is pt unable to speak? Or communicate in any way even non verbal? Then that will be neurology case. Police willbe involve if that is accindent, or any hurt attempt from someone.
