I've slipped in and out of the DC/MK fandom over the last five or six years, but this is the first time I've really joined a fan community. I was referred here by one M. Starlitedragons, author of one of the most interesting Conan fics I had read on fanfiction.net in the last month.
I write things every so often, though much less than I want to. I tend to be a very strict perfectionist not only with spelling and grammar, but also style - hence why I'll often rip apart thousand-word WIPs and rewrite them again because I find that they don't flow as well as they did when I first read them over.
Right now, I have precisely one piece of Conan fic to my name, which I'll post here shortly. I've got plenty of plans a-boiling in me for writing The Ultimate Detective Conan (And Maybe Magic Kaito) story, but I'll need to take it slow if I'm ever to even lay solid groundwork for that one.
Here's to hoping we'll get along.
(Incidentally, one cookie to the first fellow who names where my avatar comes from. No cheating with your Internet friends!)

Hello and welcome! I'm Mikau, the resident translation department. It's nice to meet you! What would you prefer us to call you? Dr. House, perhaps? ^.^; Or do you go by your full "houseofmystery"?
I'm with ya on the perfectionism. I rip and tear the shreds out of my poor fics before I let others see them. I'm never very confident in my work, but others tell me that I'm good, so I've learned just to never trust my own judgment. That can be both an arduous task and extremely freeing at the same time. I've learned that showing my work to others, even though I'm not yet one hundred percent satisfied, is super beneficial because they can see the good and the bad and point me in the right direction. Most of the time I get extremely lucky and people just tell me that I was stressing out over nothing and my work is fine, but...
I know my fic Falling In Love Literally has been greatly transformed by discussing it here with everyone, so I hope you'll feel comfortable sharing your work, even the in-progress stuff with us. This place is really great for planning fics and getting others' input, so I hope you'll be able to take advantage of the resources we have here.
Once again, welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay!
-Kara (aka: Mikau)

I like him. He's witty. Dr. House it is! I may decide to alternate between Dr. House and Mystery Man on a whim.
