So I suppose I am supposed to introduce myself, something which I am horrible at. Or maybe I am not so horrible at introducing myself, since I already introduced myself as someone who is bad at introducing himself, or am I contradicting myself? I guess I am not making sense, am I?
Em...I occasionally watched Detective Conan when I was six, when I reached around nine years old I became more interested in DC and decided my local channel fish out the anime episodes way too slowly so I switched to reading manga starting from volume 1. I think when I reached volume thirty something my interest in DC gradually declined and I stopped reading, that was also the moment I became addicted to video games. Years later, now I more or less quit video games and somehow recently renewed my interest in Detective Conan, as a matter of fact I plowed through all the recent and plot relevant anime episodes in the matter of one and a half month (courtesy of the power of internet, the local channels don't even show DC anymore).
I am into mysteries in general, for I read Sherlock Holmes and Arsene Lupin novels translated to my mother tongue when I was 9 years old. Sadly unlike Conan, neither did I remember the stories to heart nor did I fully understand the stories. I am currently intermittently trying to (re)read Sherlock Holmes in English starting with A study in Scarlet, I am very impressed and intrigued by the vast amount of information Holmes could infer via deduction and induction from the smallest observations. TV tropes call it 'Sherlock Scan', and I have been trying to learn more about it because it is actually possible and has been done in real life before, I actually wrote an ongoing DC fanfic called The Science of Deduction which deals with 'Sherlock Scan'.
Other books I am into...I really enjoyed George Orwell's Animal Farm and I am currently reading Aldous Huxley's Brave New World Revisited as well as Dream Psychology by Sigmund Freud. When I have the time I want to read Propaganda by Edward Bernays...I guess I am into not-so-mainstream kind of books. The only TV shows I am following are DC, BBC Sherlock and a Japanese police drama called 'Aibo', the protagonist of 'Aibo' is the featured detective of DC volume 48.
What brought me here is because I think this is a great site for DCMK fanfiction writers, I found this site as I read and really enjoys Mikauzoran's Falling in Love Literally. I write two DC fanfic, one is The Science of Deduction as I mentioned earlier and another one is The More the Merrier, I will be posting the Science of Deduction here (even if no one asked for it). My other fanfic The More the Merrier is more of a low-intelligence fic riddled with comedic sociopathy, full of all kinds of of off-colour humour which some people might find it more offensive than funny, so it is not everyone's cup of tea and I will need to consider whether it is appropriate to post that story here too.
So hello everyone!

Hello hello!! With an intro like that, you don't sound too shabby at it, haha~. I'm pretty new here myself, so I dunno if I have the authority to say this, but welcome to the cafe, new friend! Seems like we have a blossoming Holmes here, huh? The Sherlock Scan is definitely one of the more interesting tropes, especially IRL. And some of the other books you've listed are dystopian or related to society and politics, if I'm correct - I've read Animal Farm, and Brave New World but not Revisited yet. Ooh, have you read anything by Ray Bradbury? He falls under the same vein of thought as Huxley and Orwell. Sometimes. I'm definitely looking forward to reading both your fics - trust me, if you don't post The More The Merrier here, then I'll track it down and probably read it anyways, haha. Anyways, welcome, and enjoy your stay~! ~Tiny

Hello there, and welcome to Poirot Cafe! (Can I take your order? Our specials today are curry and Death by Chocolate. ^.^)
All joking aside, I'm Mikau! Welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy your stay here. Just let us know if you have any questions. Everyone's super nice (and a little bit strange, but you get used to that and come to look forward to the random oddities), so don't feel intimidated.
*Does celebratory dance* Yay! Three! That's three new members I've recruited through advertising! *Wags tail* Look! See! I'm useful!
Ahem, anyway. I'm so glad that you're enjoying FLL and decided to check out the forum because of it! ^.^ Thanks for reading! I really appreciate you taking the time to do that.
So what would you like to be called? Bear? Airbourne? I doubt you'd fancy "Carcass". ^.^;
That's an interesting list of leisure reading you have there. I've had to read those things for school. I've never picked them up of my own volition. But hey, kudos to you. I've liked Holmes from a young age too, but...another Lupin fan!!! I'm reading 813 right now. I just finished The Hollow Needle a month or two ago. It was really good, really depressing. It made me want to reaction fic where Hakuba has Kaito read it, and then Kaito gets upset about the end. Maybe I still will someday. Anyway, I've only read a few of the book/story collections, but I'm loving it so far. Which has been your favorite? I really loved Maurice Leblanc's first appearance and the one with Lupin's backstory about the necklace. I pretty much like all that I've read. I think the only one that I didn't actually like was the vault one. The Blonde Lady was okay. It wasn't my favorite, but it was still good.
Aaaaanyway... ^.^ What's your mother tongue, if you don't mind? Because your English is fantastic.
Once again, welcome, and I hope you have fun and make friends here!

Why does everyone say they're bad at intros? And then they go on to make a fine intro?
Anyway, welcome the the forum! I'm Natsumi ^-^ Ohhh, Mikau stole my questions about your mother tongue . . .
Watching people die (okay, watching Detective Conan, but same thing) since you were six . . . Sounds like Conan himself XD
Yeah, I started reading Sherlock Holmes . . . But I think it lost to Detective Conan and school, so I ended up stopping in the middle of The Hound of the Baskervilles.

"airbournebearcarass" is something I randomly came up with at that instant, if you prefer you can call me ABC. I feel ashamed to say this but I cannot remember most of the things from the Arsene Lupin and Sherlock Holmes story I read as a nine year old, I am taking my own sweet time to reread them and I have only started on Sherlock Holmes' first story.

I guess it is sort of a mental process people go through when they do something they are not familiar with, they will state that they are not good at it so prevent people making expectations I guess. I am still no match for Conan himself, it is very different when the corpse and blood are sanitised by the anime art style, Conan presumably visited actual crime scenes and saw actual dead bodies. Oh and about my mother tongue, it is Chinese (mandarin).
Ray Bradbury, I read 'A Sound of Thunder' and 'The Veldt'. Glad to hear someone so interested in what I wrote@TinyTantei -ABC

Year of the goat...or sheep. It is never specified the year is for which->which allows a wider range of merchandise to be sold->appeals to both people who like goat and people who like sheep->more money made!

Hey! Nice to meet you! I am currently reading through the Sherlock Holmes series too, although I am up to the Gloria Scott in the Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. I haven't read the other books you listed, as I am more of a mystery fan (I have almost all the agatha Christie novels) and fantasy/adventure are all genres I don't mind dabbling into occasionally. The BBC Sherlock is awesome too Your fics sound really interesting. The Science of Deduction sounds a bit like a more psychological story...? I hope it is, because they are always really interesting. If not I definately want to read it anyway ^~^ I am glad to have something else to add to my reading list. Anyway, I bid you a warm welcome and hope you enjoy your stay here at Poirot Cafe. (Gosh it sounds like the Poirot Cafe is linked to a b&b or something XD)

Welcome to Poirot Cafe! I'm glad you found your way here through Mikau's fic! It's good that word is spreading through our members' stories. Hope you find out growing community to be a nice place to interact with other fans and maybe even a good source of inspiration and feedback for your ongoing fics.
You have a good taste in books. I really want to get back to reading some more good literature. Need to make some time for all these things! Haha I think most DCMK fans should at least try Sherlock Holmes and Arsene Lupin. It's practically mandatory, hehe.
Hope to see you more around. Good luck and have fun writing!
