I've heard of the 6 sentence fics before too, they are actually really hard. And people complain about coming up with summaries XD The prompt idea from pictures or fan art sounds great, I love doing those sort of prompts, especially as pictures can be interpreted in many different ways. We actually did something like that in English class the other day, and there was a picture of a firefighter spraying a house with water that was completely alight. Most people said 'Tragic house fire, family dies' or something, but I went with 'Mythbusters visit Australia.'
Another type of prompt I have done for another fandom before is using songs. You don't use the lyrics in the fic (unless you want to) but you listen to the song while you are writing to help set a mood for the writing. It is amazing how different stories can be from that as well. If you want an example, the #loveisaninspiration challenge in the Ace Attorney section is one I participated in so you can see how it sort of works.

Ah yes! I've done the writing to a song exercise too! That's a lot of fun. You can also do it so that you only have the length of the song to write. It's a fun challenge.

The length of the song to write? It would be about 3 sentences for me XD What about the song on repeat? And we don't have to do songs with music, we could do some themes from movies or games too, if they are interesting enough.

No. You only have the length of the song once. It's a speed exercise. If you hit on a really good idea, though, you can keep writing after the music ends, but the point is supposed to be getting a whole bunch of ideas out. It's great for beating writer's block.

I probably need to try it then. ^_^; My writing isn't as fast as I think it is. And by just getting ideas out, do you mean writing dot point or single sentences of each or the parts of the story, or just focusing on one part, or does it not really matter and depends on the person doing the challenge? Anyway, I think I know how I am going to be spending my next weekend.

How I do it, is I try to write a very short story, kind of like my HakuKai/KaiShin/ShinHaku shorts. It only ends up being around a hundred words or so. By that point, though, I know if it's a viable story idea that I should continue working on after the song ends or if I should move on to the next song. It's sort of a brainstorming/speed writing exercise.
