Hi everyone! My name is Catherine (Kateřina), but my friends call me Katrin. I'm seventeen years old girl from Czech Republic who loves reading, writing, watching anime and meeting new friends (I'm scout so it's normal, no? . I'm student of second year of Printing and Graphic Science on High school (It's so boring... I wanted study Graphic and my school is primarily about Printing -.-). I'm also a fan of DC, MK and fanfictions. ^.^ I'm not English native speaker so it's hard to me to communication. My english teacher say that I'm great translator of texts from English to Czech, but I must practice my speaking and writing. I'm so sorry for mistakes in my texts. I started watching Conan back in March 2011 when I was sick. I searched something to force bore so I watched my favorite anime like Romeo X Juliet, Slayers or Kamikaze Kaitó Jeanne. But all of that were well-known for me, so I started search something new and I find by change Detective Conan, who played in Czech so I started watching it. It was absolutely amazing, I love mysterious and detective genres. But it ended with episode 51, because Czech dub is dubbed just to this episode. And I searched. Czech subs wasn't existed and I must watched it with English subs. It was challenge for me. Of course that I learned English in school, but my English wasn't so good and in Conan were a lots of unknown words for me. But with time it was okay. And now it's great. I still don't known any of words in texts or subs, but I undestand what you (or they) want to me and I can search that word in dictionary. My favorite character from DC? I don't know, really... It's hard. But maybe... I really love Kogoro, Eri, Yuusaku and Yukiko. Of course that I love Shinichi, Ran, Ai, Sera or Akai too, but that four are great! And I hope that Kogoro and Eri will be together in the end of serie. ^.^ My favorite case/arc... I love London arc. Because London. And ShinRan. And case... I can't remember everyone, but maybe Aquarium Case, Magic Lover's Murder Case, Kaitó Kid and the Blush Mermaid and both Valentine Cases. Favorite character from MK is Kaito (of course) and inspector Nakamori. And Aoko too. She's so sweet when she chases Kaito with mop. It reminds me myself and my best friend from elementary school. I don't like slash. KaiShin, KaiSagu or ShinHeiji... NO! But it doesn't bother me when it's just mentioned like in FiLL from Mikau (Yeah, I reading it and it's awesome!). I like theory about childrens of ShinRan and KaiAo will be friends and (maybe) lovers. I have a idea to story about that. And my friend Lucia said that it will be smash when I write it. Maybe in English, but in Czech? Nope, here is just small fan base. And then - it's really crazy. o.o So it was just something about me. My FF.net accont: www.fanfiction.net/~yumenokatrin

Hi there~ your English is pretty good! glad to see that dcmk is helping you improve it Oh, oh, I hope Kogorou and Eri get together by the end as well <3 shinran and kaiao kids, huh? I can see that, especially if they're like their parents (as in spending time with each other at a young age).

Thanks. I think that this theory isn't bad. I very like it. And I love imagines about their stories! I wrote about that four drabbles, but it's just in Czech, I'm sorry. KaiAo's daughter is named Haruko and ShinRan's son is Conan. And yes, their personalities are very similiar to their parents, but Haru restrict her magic skills (for example).

Hello!
I believe you've been around the forum for a little while now, so saying "Welcome to the forum!" would be a little...I don't know, maybe redundant, but I'm glad that you joined us!
That's really cool that you're using anime to help your English. I really prefer the use of media like that to help to learn a language. There are so many great resources available. I myself use manga/anime/dramas/videogames/novels to practice my Japanese, and it's great. I love being able to tell my mother that I can't vacuum right now because I'm watching anime in order to study Japanese. We wouldn't want my skills to get rusty, would we? We did pay for that big fancy degree and all that studying abroad, didn't we? Yes we did.
Anyway. Oh, you're reading FLL?! I didn't know that! I'm glad that you seem to like it! What did you think? I'm always interested in hearing what exactly people liked/what they found funny or really emotionally touching so that I can attempt to produce similar effects in the future. Hearing what I can do better is also a big help. It allows me to grow as a writer which is the whole point of me posting stuff in the first place instead of just letting it sit around my computer. ^.^ I'd love to hear your thoughts sometime!
Best of luck in your continued English studies! Keep up the good work!
-Kara (aka: Mikau)

Hi Katrinka!
It's cool that you're learning English through anime! I'm learning Japanese through it! (and manga, and normal study books). Anyway, do you want us to correct you on your English at all? (I just want to say, though, you keep using "somethink" when it should be "something")
Yes, the London arc XD I was actually going to re-watch that soon . . .

Niku: Oh, I really wrote "somethink" again. -.- XD Thanks for reply, my English teacher was little angry when I wrote that in my last writing exercise and I'm still writing "something" as "somethink". XD And I will be glad when you'll write me about mistakes. It's great. Mikau: Thanks you too. Yeah, I was just little shy to write here something, because my English writing skills aren't perfect. FiLL is great story, really. I love how is Saguru sweet to her. I don't like him in manga and MK 1412 so much, but here's very nice. Sera is one of my favorite characters and I hope she'll find her true love in manga like Sonoko. Maybe it will be Saguru like in your story. And Kaito is hot with his sweet character and great friend! ^.^

Hello! I love using Japanese dramas and anime to help learn the language, I think it is a common consensus here that it is one of our favourite ways to study Your English is absolutely amazing and it makes me feel bad for neglecting revising my kanji lists as often as I should have over the holidays. English spelling is frustrating for pretty much everyone so don't worry. You can blame it on typos. I love Romeo X Juliet too! It doesn't seem to be very well known from the people I've asked about it, but I'm glad I found someone else who does I hope you enjoy the forum and see you around ^~^

Hi Geeky! Yeah, it's better way to study languages. Our English teacher says it too and we have to watching every day something in English - TV series, movies... So I'm watching Once Upon a Time and Gilmore Girls now. But I'm a fan of English Subs in anime still 'cause sometimes it's really crazy to hear your fav characters speaking in diffrent language than Japanese. Or when is your fav character named diffrent in English version. Like Shinichi and Ran. When I watched Conan movie 4 and 5 in English Dub last week, it was just: "Their pronounces of Rachel [Rejčl] and Richard [Ričrd] are almost the same! And that American names!" My English isn't such amazing. There is still too much things what I don't know. For example I didn't know that you haven't prepositional case to yesterday (To honesty? It's really strange o.o). Or I forget articles in texts often. Or I forget some words and I don't remember it so I must search in the Dictionary. And that word order. Or I very like vary your times (pres. continues, pres. simple, past simple, past continues...) in the texts! They're a chronic problem for me. But I do one's best to eliminate my shortcomings. Until recently I didn't believe that I'll competent to write there to forum or write some short story in English. And no, I don't want to blame it on typos 'cause I know that they're my own shortcomings. RxJ is awesome. Really. Opening song is nice and beautiful... And the last episode! OMG! I cry always when I watching that! DC SPOILER: (But also I cried during London Case ShinRan scene too... Yeah, it's romantic scene, really, but not so much as RxJ.) And Romeo is hot. ^.^ When I watched it with my friend from Elementary school, he said that Romeo is surely gay. And not very well known anime? I don't know why, but this types of anime are the best! DCMK aren't very well known anime in Czech Republic and Slovakia too. So thanks again! And yes, I like this forum and I'm enjoying it, because people are really very nice here.

Question: do you want me to go hard on you for English corrections in all of your replies (not just things having to do with your stories)? I mean, it'd make sense, but I just want to be sure.
Actually, Katrin, since the London Arc has already been animated, we don't really call it a spoiler anymore. Usually anything in the manga that hasn't been in the anime yet are what we consider spoilers.

Really? I see. I'm still unaccustomed to write something 'bout recent episodes 'cause Czech fansub is somewhere around the episode 140. And you can if you want, but I don't want bother to you so much.

It's alright. Always glad to help someone with their English. And really the only mistake in the post you just did is that you placed "to" in the wrong place. Instead of "don't want bother to you", it should be "don't want to bother you".
Wow, the Czech fansub is really far back . . . I mean, they haven't even gotten to the Desperate Revival arc yet? I mean, come on! That's like, the first actual arc in DC.

Thanks for repair. Nope, the Despirate isn't translated. I know, we're really far back. When I began watching Conan back in 2011, there were subs of the first 30 episodes and dub was to episode 51 (and still is xD). The only translator of subs is in College and he doesn't have that much time for it, but his translations are one of the best in Czech Republic and Slovakia anime fansubs, so it's not too bad. And he promised that he will have made subs at least to the Desperate Revival this year.

You're welcome That's good ^-^ It'll be good to watch it with subs of your own language. ("isn't translate" --> "isn't translated". "there was subs" --> "there were subs". I think it'd be better if "it's not a big damage" was replaced with "it's not too bad".)
