Hello all! I'm Ichthyophobia and I lurk. Luuuuuurk. And also write. Like a lot of people here (apparently), I do have problems with depression. So I disappear sometimes. I'm a biochemistry/chemistry grad student at the moment and I've been reading Detective Conan for about 10 years now. (Though I've temporarily stopped buying the volumes. I ran out of bookshelf.) I don't have any particular OTP and I'm fine with most pairings, which means you probably won't see me writing much romance. I do have a soft spot for Ran, though. So if you write KaiShin you'd better be nice to her. I start a lot of things and finish very little. So someday I might finish the huge DC story I've been working on. Also someday I might get struck by lightning. These things are about equally likely.

Welcome to the forum! I like your username By the way, I read your fanfic Underestimation. I didn't review, but I put it under my favorites, so hopefully that's good enough? Needless to say, I really liked it Hey, yet another member for the infrequent/unreliable posters' club!

Hello, nice to meet you. Yea, it's strange. There are a lot of people who fight depression. I guess that it's either because people are more honest when they are anonymous or that it's because more writers have it ... Neeh, I don't know anything. I'm just cracking ideas. I could be wrong, and probably is ^^ Haha, I write a lot of KaiShin/ShinKai, but I always try to be nice to Ran. Everybody deserves to be happy I also start a lot of stories, half of them are never published. It's like a disease.

I so know what you mean, Nechangi. That's why I've resolved only to write one-shots until I get Shinichi's Return, Conan Suspected, and probably even Unexpected Murder done before I post another multichapter story . . .

I've read studies that link depression and other disorders on that spectrum with creativity. A lot of famous published authors (poets/painters/actors etcetera) struggle with depression (etcetera). I think writing particularly serves as a good coping mechanism to process feelings and to search for and work out problems we face in our own lives.

Hey there :3
Huh, it seems that you're right about that... I heard that writers are more inclined to be suffering from some mental illness, so I guess that's why most of us have had our fair share of dark times. //shrugs
I can understand you on the whole finishing stories things. I've started too many DC fics, and I haven't finished any.. so maybe that will change one day for both of us?
