Title: Beta Test Summary: The best video games are the ones that let you walk in someone else's shoes. Someone like Kaitou KID. (AU) Warnings: I have no excuse for the format... it just is what it is. Word Count: approximately 2300 important words A/N: I may have gotten distracted when writing this... just a little... or a lot. Anyhow see the AO3 link for this story. Why I didn't try to upload it here should be obvious shortly. AO3 Link: archiveofourown.org/works/12191358

I don't blame you for not wanting to put it on here directly.

I officially excuse you for not actually posting the submission on the site.
I also officially think you're crazy for subjecting yourself to formatting hell. ^.^; It's a neat effect, though. I can appreciate the time and effort you put into it.

And I didn't really know how much work it was going to be until I looked up one evening and wondered why it was suddenly midnight. But then I told myself I'd done enough work that I might as well finish it. Little did i know that I was only 1/4 of the way done at that point.

I was wondering, but how did you put this together? Did you set up a whole bunch of emails and took screenshots, or was this done on a program like photoshop? It's really well done regardless

I was wondering, but how did you put this together? Did you set up a whole bunch of emails and took screenshots, or was this done on a program like photoshop? It's really well done regardless So this is going to make me sound slightly crazy, but... I wrote the 'emails' in Word once I knew what the contents of an entire 'email' chain were going to be. Like this: Then I edited the word document for each screenshot I thought I wanted. But I quickly discovered that using the snip tool like I had planned wasn't going to work. To get an entire 'email' on the screen I had to make it so small it was unreadable. So instead I saved each image as it's own PDF. (This included adjusting the paper size settings to make sure that there weren't any page breaks.) Then I uploaded the PDFs to an image hosting site and adjusted the sizes by cropping the images, making sure to keep the width of every image consistent. After that it was just a matter of using the AO3 interface to link to the hosted images. I also tried my hand at adjusting the HTML to automatically adjust the size of the images. But AO3 doesn't support the function the way I'd like. I could auto adjust the size but not limit the size of the image to its original CSS size. So on a wide screen (like my laptop) the image pixelated horribly even though the aspect ratio was maintained. (Yep. I'm making good use of the programming classes I took in college. I can make budgeting and loan payment calculators in VB and use enough HTML to upload stories to a fanfiction site. Now if only I could find a use for my C++ and C#.)

Oh, wow... definitely complicated, but the end result looks amazing! I really glad to see that it all worked out (and lol--I haven't found a way to apply my coding knowledge yet, but it's all very minimal anyway)
