(Title of thread recycled from a previous intro this user has made.)
I've never been good with introductions and first impressions, so I'll try to make this as concise as possible.
I started as a roleplayer and frequenter for various boards and Friendster (when it was still the fad), but my friends have been very encouraging in regards to my technique, which is a big reason for my crossing over to writing fanfictions. I still consider myself as a greenhorn, as unlike most of you I haven't been writing for a long time and inspiration doesn't come to me very often, hence the delays in my updates for ongoing stories and new releases. I try to take my time before posting anything, and even then I still edit often. My fanfiction account, bearing the same name which is an amalgamation of some of my favorite characters, has only turned a year old as of this post and has only a handful of DC-related works, the franchise I'm currently confined in. Do search for it in your own discretion if you're curious, though its not really much if I may say so myself.
As a DC fan, I am proud to say I'm a junkie and have watched everything there is to watch that is DC, from the animes, to lives, OVAs, Magic Files, everything until up to a few months ago (catching up is in order). I even tried writing subtitles for the anime once, specifically the episode with the magnetic briefcase and the tour boat, when a fansub group allowed volunteers to help out in order to catch up with their delays. Unless I want to or bored, I don't usually follow the manga primarily because there are more anime cases than there are manga ones (a bunch of it I like better), albeit delayed, and it's easier for me to follow investigations on a more active format. I'm also a critic like everyone else, so expect me to be somewhat vocal about things and developments that don't sit very well with me.
Having said that and having skimmed the forum, I'm sorry to disappoint but Magic Kaitou really isn't my cup of coffee, pun intended. Not that I hate it, just that I'm not so crazy about it and I think it has more potential as its own franchise. My palate is actually very weird to say the least, thus tough to satisfy. You'd probably notice in my DC-related works, should you ever stumble upon it, that I've never once written anything with Shinichi, Ran or even Heiji as the mains. As far as ships go, my username makes it somewhat obvious, and yes, I do think the creators should put more scenes about them, but I also think the slow progress they're on now suits them well. Still, a fan can never have enough.
Other than DC, I'm an avid fan of the Japanese culture, Japanese music, dramas and crime novels where most of my writing inspiration comes from. For anime/manga other than DC, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge and Skip Beat are the two of the others that I still follow month after month, but these days I lean more on live dramas, video game franchises, and older anime with dark, psychological, some sci-fi, and/or historical themes.
I joined this forum mainly to harness my craft, and for future beta services, prompts and whatnot (started late, so I'm not sure if LJ communities are still going, let alone where they are), though I'm not much for competitive writing, nor have enough skills for it so I doubt I'd be able to comply with daily exercises and such. In any case, I'd be happy to pick other people's brains and lend my experience with boards and stuff, though I can't promise frequent activity on my end.
So there you have it. Not as concise as I promised? Of course it isn't. I lied. Anyways, it's a pleasure to meet you all.
