Oh, I've read Insignia! I'm glad I'm not the only one, haha. I really liked that book, and there were plans for a sequel that's out now - called Vortex, I think? And Catalyst after that, with something else in the middle somewhere. Vortex is out! I read that too! It was great! I'm currently waiting on Catalyst... I need to find time to buy that book XD

Question: can we recommend comic books here, too?

In that case, I strongly recommend Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. One of the most overhyped comic books of all time, I know, but in my opinion it's earned all the praise. It's one of those comics that everyone from the lowest common denominator to people with multiple college degrees can enjoy.
The first trade, Preludes and Nocturnes, is kind of uneven and somewhat handcuffed to late-80s DC continuity, but it's a decent intro to the premise and the characters. After that, it just keeps getting better with each story arc.
Some people consider the art in most of the issues - even with the recoloring - to be pretty hideous, but I like it. It gives the whole series a surreal, inhuman atmosphere, which is only fitting as it's about an immortal who rules over all dreams.

I've started reading (actually listening to an audiobook on my commutes) or The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. So far so good! It's an epic fantasy series like The Wheel of Time or Lord of the Rings type. It seems like it's going to be an extremely long series. The first book is over 50 hours (audio length) I think. There's a lot of back and forth between characters so far since I just started. I can't give a thought review since I just started it. But it's very detail and I think the setting is being developed really nicely; it's quite interesting these fantasy books with all the types of people and creatures and lore. The characters are all seem pretty unique and the audio book add some nice acting on their dialogue to show their personalities. This is my first audio book so I'm still getting used to it. It's probably a lot slower than reading but it's interesting and gives me a chance to give my eyes a rest around work.

I fell for this book. www.amazon.com/Ripper-Stefan-Petrucha-ebook/dp/B005GSZZBK#navbarSummary: Panic grips the city! There is a killer loose in New York City, and Carver Young is the only one who sees the startling connection between the recent string of murders and the most famous serial killer in history: Jack the Ripper. Time is winding down until the killer claims another victim, but Carver soon sees that, to The Ripper, this is all a game that he may be destined to lose.
