Aoko looks . . . cuter. More childish. And Kaito might even look more mature, if that's the word I'm looking for . . . But either way, neither changed very much, so I'm happy about that.

I like the new character design (almost makes me wish that DC would be published from the same studio, seeing that the art really worsened lately...) And I'm so so grateful that Yamaguchi still dubbs for Kaito (love the voice ^__^) I'm looking forward to the series.

I'm not sure how I feel about the new animation, mostly just because I'm used to Aoyoma's redonk-adonk drawing style (especially dem redic ears), but I'll just have to see it in motion to make a better judgement.
I wish I could see those shoes better, because maybe now I won't have to buy a pair of penny loafers for my cosplay.

Yeah, I feel like the noses are not as good as before, especially in Hakuba and Kaito . . . and I guess Akako too. But other than that, I think it's really good and not too much of a change. Except for Akako's hair. Why on earth does she have that bluish black hair rather than her normal reddish brown?

The 3/4 views look perfectly fine. I don't know why profile views tend to be so odd. In DC too it's like this. I've noticed that the bottom part of the face seems too long. It's either like that or very flat and pushed in looking. At least DCMK characters don't have side mouths.

Conan: This is 'Magic Kaito' - the story of a thief that likes showing off.
Kaito: I'll see myself in, my little detective.
Conan: Just make sure you're gone in thirty minutes.
Kaito: 'Magic Kaito 1412' begins on Saturday 4th October at 5:30pm! Kaito: And I'm the main character! Conan: I wouldn't be so sure about that.

The . . . the little, thing, with the slash between Kaito and Conan . . . Conan looks . . . I don't know . . . like an actual child rather than his usual awesome smirking self . . . And Jii . . . It might take a while for me to get used to this animation . . .

I look forward to seeing what they come up with. I agree that the annimation will take some getting used to, but I'll reserve judgment until after I watch a couple episodes.

Ok - I just watched the first episode and while I think I like the new animation (strange noses aside), I don't like the changes they made regarding Toichi's message to his son or his last show. {Spoiler: Click to view/hide}A strange LP-player and a rollercoaster - really? And we get a glimpse of a shadow, looking like Kid. Probably Kaitou Corbeau, the connection the new manga chapter.
Next up we get Blue Birthday. Let's see what they're going to make out of it

Yeah, I didn't like Toichi's message either {Spoiler: Click to view/hide} Not to mention he said absolutely nothing about Kaitou Kid, just teaching about being a magician. And I agree, what's with the rollercoaster? Well, A-1 Pictures is known for going off-canon, but still . . . I'm actually half-hoping it's Kaitou Corbeau? My first thoughts are it's either Kaitou Corbeau or part of the organization. Or maybe both, depending on whether or not Kaitou Corbeau IS part of the organization. I'm surprised it's gotten this far this fast. Let's see what they do with it

{Spoiler: Click to view/hide}The scene with the record player was at least pretty cool to watch. I did kind of miss the old-timey feel with the tape recorder, even though a record player is suppose to be old, it felt so modern that it didn't have quite the same effect. There was potential for changing the scene of Toichi's death with the roller coaster, but the depiction wasn't that interesting. I could've gone along with it more if they had at least animated in a much more dramatic way, with the coaster in action and him struggling to get out. Instead with the old stage accident, there was that large ambiguity with what actually happened that gave it much more of a mysterious feel.

{Spoiler: Click to view/hide} Yeah, I don't think the manga went into much detail about Toichi's death, did they? Just that there was something about a fire (that I remember). And yay, I wasn't the only one who thought the juke box/record player was "modern" and the cassette tape was better. What do you guys think of the weird hang glider stick thing? I prefer the normal hang glider.

{Spoiler: Click to view/hide} I do like the idea that Toichi was a much more traditional magician and although he had a sense for flair, something like the reimagined secret room is somewhat more fanciful and technological than he'd actually prefer.
I wouldn't mind the cane but I dint understand how it works. I mean the collapsible rig he has had on his back under the cape seems at least like it would work somehow since we have seen it being engaged in DC before. The scene were he engages the glider in this episode took place off screen and I didn't even understand how Nakamori and the police lost sight of him.
Speaking of Nakamori I was kinda disappointed with how lackluster his animations were. His first outrageous expressions are usually hilarious. The scene were he was heading out in his car before the heist, his dialogue was something along they lines of this is the most excited I've been in awhile but he didn't seem enthusiastic at all. I'm so glad his voice actor is the same at least.
